ECSU Awarded $200,000 HRSA Grant to Address Rural Opioid Crisis

Elizabeth City State University has received a $200,000 Rural Communities Opioid Response (Planning) grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to address opioid use, substance use and addiction in Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.

The grant will advance ECSU’s Rural Health Initiative and support the Substance Use and Addiction Certificate in the university’s Social Work program.

Breast cancer screening can help detect cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.

• Schedule your recommended mammogram.
• Know your family history and breast cancer risk factors.
• Be aware of changes in your breasts and report concerns to a healthcare provider.

Beginning Fall 2026, the Baccalaureate Social Work (BSW) Program offers two program options: a traditional in-person format and a 100% fully online format. The online option provides students with greater flexibility and accessibility while pursuing their BSW degree.
