Dear U-46 Families,

Please join us at the free “Get U Connected” event this Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at the U-46 Welcome Center, 1019 E. Chicago St., Elgin.

This event is designed to help get families ready for the first day of school.

Connect with U-46 departments and community organizations that offer resources and services to support students and families throughout the school year, including food and nutrition, health and wellness, preschool, before- and after-school care, transportation, library programs, and more.

Back to School Tip #4:

Remember you do not need to purchase school supplies. However, for any other back to school shopping. Make sure you go August 7-16th as there will be no state tax on school supplies, back packs and clothing!

Back to School Tip #3:

Health Requirements for Kindergarten Students:
Students entering kindergarten or grades 6, 9, or 12 must meet certain health requirements as listed on the district’s Health Forms & Resources webpage. Completed forms can be sent to: Please email a pdf version to [email protected]. You can also drop them off at our Health Services Office (1555 Larkin Ave) Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm. If you would like to fax in your paperwork, please fax them to (847) 888-5320. Please make sure your student's name is clearly legible on your paperwork and that the parent portion is completed and signed.

Back to School Tip 1:

Complete a Fee Waiver Form: While school meals will again be free for all students this school year, many families will benefit from completing the 2026-27 Fee Waiver Form (https://www.u-46.org/o/sdu/page/registration -62caec97c48b01af782990fe07cc02ae). Families who qualify may have their registration and athletic fees waived.
