U-46 Educational Foundation

We are creating opportunities that expand student learning and well-being in School District U-46. The U-46 Foundation was created to cultivate educational programs and activities not typically financed with tax dollars.

The primary means of fundraising is through individual and corporate donations. Private resources play an important role in supporting activities that go beyond the district curriculum. Work on the Foundation began in 2006, when a core of community leaders and longtime district supporters came together to recruit board members, establish bylaws and seek non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) organization. In August of 2007 the Foundation became a reality and was introduced to the community.

We are so excited to share these pictures from the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club.

On June 24th, the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club awarded five U-46 students with G. Michael Greene Memorial Scholarships. The Greene scholarship is one of the many scholarships proudly managed by the U-46 Educational Foundation.

The U-46 winners were:

Gilbert Vargas from Elgin High School. He will be attending Providence Baptist College.

Julian Jarmula from Elgin High School. He will be attending Northwestern University.

Noah Mack from Elgin High School. He will be attending the University of Kentucky.

Andrea Domin from South Elgin High School. She will be attending the University of Houston.

And Leslie Hernandez from Streamwood High School. She will be attending Elgin Community College.

The Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club established the G. Michael Greene Scholarship in 2012 in memory of late U-46 educator, Gene Michael Greene. Mr. Greene started his teaching career in U-46 in 1978. At the time of his death, he was a math teacher at Kenyon Woods Middle School. This scholarship is for U-46 students pursuing a career in teaching or math.
