Thank you to the student leaders at LEAP Fox Valley for selecting The Literacy Connection as a grant recipient for our program "The ABCs of ABE (Adult Basic Education)." The award will be used to provide resources and materials for our adult learners, training for our tutors, and promotional items and resources for tutor recruitment events.

LEAP Students presented the awards at their annual ceremony on May 12, 2026, at the United Methodist Church at 211 Hamilton Street in Geneva. Many other fine Elgin nonprofit organizations were present, too.

Registration begins at 11a.m. and bags fly at noon!

On Thursday, May 14th, participants in The Literacy Connection's Family Literacy Program celebrated their graduation day. Adults attended English as a Second Language class Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5-7pm at the Boys & Girls Club of South Elgin while their children were involved in BGCE activities.

We are so proud of everyone's accomplishments and were happy to host an award ceremony in partnership with BGCE and Gail Borden Public Library.

Registration for the 2026-2027 Family Literacy Program begins in late summer 2026.

This program is provided by a generous grant from the Illinois Secretary of State's Literacy Office and in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois and Gail Borden Public Library.
