Otter Creek PTO

Today we welcomed former Otter Creek seniors from South Elgin, Elgin & Streamwood to our clap out! We wish you all luck in the next step in your journey!

We wanted to give several thank yous to everyone who helped PTO out this week. To those who helped by donating snacks, drinks and raffle prizes. To those who helped with set up and clean up during the week. To Taqueria Chapala who catered lunch for our staff this week. And to Portillo's - Elgin who donated chocolate & lemon cakes for our staff. We hope that everyone had a wonderful week.

OC PTO wants to give a huge (public) shout out to those restaurants/businesses that supported Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week last week! Original Country Donuts Elgin for our breakfast on Monday morning, OC Family & new business Sunshine’s Cupcakery for Cupcakes on Wednesday, John's Pizza for our pizzas on Thursday & Portillo's for their donation of 8 cakes for our staff! We also want to thank all of our families who donated food, gift cards, decorations, and treats for staff, and for our students who brought in letters, little gifts and bought carnations. We are thankful for have your support of our staff & teachers.

We had a totally radical 1st Day of our Totally 90's Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week! Tomorrow is Boom Shakalaka- You're Nacho Average Teachers and Staff. PTO and families will be providing a Nacho Bar. For our optional gifting- You're all that and a bag of Chips- bring a fun treat for a teacher/staff member- maybe it's your favorite treat. Maybe it's another day on the calendar instead. Enjoy your Tuesday!

A few important deadlines for the weekend into next week:

1. Scholarship applications for current seniors must be postmarked by today. Applications will be reviewed next week.

2. 6th Grade Recognition Ads & Custom Pages for the Yearbook are due Wednesday, May 1. Ads cannot be extended as we have 24 hours after the ad deadline in the event we need to fill the space we have saved for unsold ads.

3. The Yearbook purchase deadline is also May 1. Any yearbooks purchased after this date run the risk of not arriving at school before the end of the year. Any books purchased beyond next week may involve shipping at your own expense to your home. Purchasing online is your best, but flyers did go home for those who prefer cash/check payments. Those payments will be picked up next week and manually entered.

4. Keep your TAW items coming. This helps us plan what items PTO purchases so we can focus our funds for the week on our bigger needs. We appreciate it!

OC Families-

This is the last week of our bag recycling challenge vs. Nature Ridge! Our families brought in 75 lbs of bags this past week to put us in the lead! We need all the bags to keep the momentum going! Ask your neighbors, friends, family, etc. Remember, any plastic bags, wrapping, ect count.

Last day is April 30th!

Our Lou Malnati's SOS Night is going on right now!

OC Families: is your student missing gloves, hats, a jacket, a hoodie, a lunch box or a water bottle. There is a really good chance that we have it at the school. In fact there are so many lost jackets that we are running out of room. Most of the jackets here are just from the last few weeks!

A huge thanks to one of our noon hour supervisors Miss Jennifer for organizing everything!

📣School Calendar Update 📅
We kindly remind you that this winter, School District U-46 had to use three emergency days (January 12, 16, and 23) due to winter conditions. Therefore, we have to adjust our school calendar to make up for these emergency days, but in a way that doesn’t take away too many summer days from our students! Here are the important changes:

✔ Friday, May 3, will shift from an Institute Day to a regular student attendance day.
✔ Thursday, May 30, will be the last student attendance day, if no additional emergency days are used.

Make sure to visit u-46.org/calendar for a copy of the calendar for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.

📣Cambio al calendario escolar 📅
Les recordamos que este invierno, el Distrito Escolar U-46 tuvo que utilizar tres días de emergencia (12, 16 y 23 de enero) debido a las condiciones climáticas. Por lo tanto, tenemos que ajustar nuestro calendario escolar para reponer estos días de emergencia, pero de manera que no les quite demasiados días de verano a nuestros estudiantes. Aquí están los cambios importantes:

✔ El viernes, 3 de mayo cambiará de Día de Institución a día de asistencia regular para los estudiantes.
✔ El jueves 30 de mayo será el último día de asistencia de estudiantes, si no se utilizan días de emergencia adicionales.
