As we close the final school year at Washington Elementary, we want to thank every student, family, staff member, alumni, and community member who helped make this year so special. ❤️

From Trunk or Treat and Cookies with Santa to Lotería Night, our Historical Tour, and every moment in between, this year reminded us what it truly means to be a Falcon.

While this chapter comes to an end, the memories, friendships, traditions, and legacy of Washington will live on forever.

Dear Washington Families,
I am so proud to be part of your Washington Community. From afar I have enjoyed watching these past 2 years the joy and excitement in your children's faces. It's hard to believe Washington School will close but know your children will be well cared for at their new schools. Life is full of changes and surprises so embrace them as they come. I will ALWAYS have Washington School in my heart. Some of my best years ever!! ❤️ It's not goodbye, it's see you again. Once A Falcon, Always a Falcon! Enjoy your summer ⛱️

Today was truly something special. ❤️

The halls of Washington School were once again filled with laughter, stories, memories, and generations of people connected by one beautiful thing… being part of the Washington family.

Thank you to everyone who came out today to walk these historic halls one more time. To our past alumni who shared stories from decades ago, former and current staff who dedicated their hearts to this building, current students and families creating the final chapter of its story, and community members who simply love this school: thank you.

We were especially touched by those who traveled from out of state just to visit Washington one last time. The fact that people made such a journey to reconnect with this building and the memories created here speaks volumes about the impact Washington School has had on generations of families.

For 135 years, Washington School has been more than just a building. It has been a second home. A place where children learned to read, made lifelong friends, met caring teachers, celebrated milestones, and created memories that lasted far beyond elementary school. Today, those memories came rushing back in the best way possible.

Watching former students point out old classrooms, hearing stories shared between generations, seeing hugs exchanged in the hallways, and hearing people say “this was my school” reminded us just how deep Washington’s roots run in the Elgin community.

While it is emotional to say goodbye to this historic building, today reminded us that the spirit of Washington was never just in the bricks, staircases, or classrooms. It lives in the people who walked through its doors for the last 135 years.

Thank you for honoring the legacy of Washington School with us today. The memories made here will continue long after these doors close.

For 135 years, Washington School has been part of the heart of Elgin and generations of families. Come celebrate the memories, stories, and legacy with us today from 1:00–4:00 PM at Washington School, 819 W. Chicago St., Elgin, Illinois.

Get ready for a fun-filled carnival themed Field Day on Wednesday, May 20th! 🎉🎡

☀️ Morning Session: 8:40–11:07
(5th, 6th, 1st & DL 2nd)

🌤 Afternoon Session: 12:00–2:25
(Kinder, 3rd, 4th & 2nd – Beucler)

Parents are welcome to volunteer or join their child during Field Day! Please let your child’s classroom teacher know if you would like to participate. ❤️

💧 Don’t forget:
✔ Water bottle
✔ Extra socks or change of clothes (students may get wet at water stations!)

We can’t wait for a day full of games, laughter, and carnival fun! 🎟🎠

Today’s winners of the “Find Mr. Corcoran” game! 👀🎉

This surprise, unannounced game had staff members hiding tiny Mr. Corcoran stickers in plain sight around the school. Students who spotted one got to claim an awesome prize! 🏆✨

The excitement, teamwork, and detective skills were ON POINT today!

Congratulations to all of our lucky finders, and keep those eyes open… you never know when Mr. Corcoran might pop up again!

Sixteen students in grades 4–6 competed for the title of Spelling Bee Champion, and after an exciting competition, our winner is Daniel Silva from Ms. Gonzalez’s 6th grade class! 🐝📚
