We wrapped up our first theme of 2026–2027 Preschool Story Time this week—and what a colorful start it was! We had fun making new friends, exploring colors, and trying different activities. Here’s a look at the books we enjoyed during our colors theme:

Ms. Mattus’ 2nd graders had so much fun using recycled materials to build solar ovens and learning how the sun can be used as a natural resource to help us with everyday tasks. Of course, we had to test them out by baking cookies! 😊

Fun family event next week!

Experience Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve in a whole new light... and dark!

Join us on Wednesday, August 19th, for this special evening event, with the preserve remaining open until the rare hour of 9:00 p.m. Feel free to explore the preserve on your own, or join Preserve Manager Aaron Mrotek for a guided ¾-mile nature walk at 6 p.m. and discover the sights and sounds of the creek as day transitions to night. After dark at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Joe Cicero will lead a black-lighting demonstration, offering a fascinating look at the insect diversity that emerges along Sonoita Creek. Watch for fireflies and rare glowworms illuminating the night, and keep an eye out for snakes, lizards, frogs and toads as they become active under the cover of darkness. ✨
