​Last Friday, McKinley was honored with the 2026 Panoramazing Award! This recognition is based on our 5th and 6th-grade Panorama survey results, where McKinley scored the highest percentage for "Sense of Belonging" in the Elgin Network.

​This achievement wouldn't be possible without a staff that cares so deeply. A special SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Saile, Dr. Engerman, Mr. Martinez, Mrs. Purdy, Mrs. Pagan, and our entire school team for dedication to making McKinley a second home for our kids. 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news from our McKinley community. Hearing that one of our current 5th grade students, Rigo, has been selected for this amazing opportunity filled us with so much joy and pride. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of what our students can achieve when they are given the tools, support, and encouragement to thrive.

McKinley holds a special place in this journey, as it was the first elementary school in U-46 to implement AVID over the past two years. Watching AVID come to life in our classrooms has been one of the most meaningful and inspiring experiences. It has created opportunities for students to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and truly see themselves as capable of achieving great things.

Rigo represents exactly what AVID is all about: perseverance, growth, and believing in yourself. We are so proud of all that he has accomplished and the way he continues to represent our school community.

We wish Rigo the very best as he takes the stage at the Dallas Summer Institute this summer to share his story with thousands of teachers, leaders, and fellow AVID students. What an incredible honor and a well-deserved opportunity.

This week, April 7-11, is Attendance Awareness Week, and U-46 is grateful to a number of our local cities and villages that are issuing special Attendance Proclamations to highlight this important initiative.

These proclamations recognize U-46’s efforts to combat chronic absenteeism, reinforce the importance of consistent school attendance, and support academic success for all. This collective action also underscores the shared responsibility between schools, families, and communities in supporting regular attendance.
