Last month was National Women’s History Month! To wrap it up, we wanted to share that the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau has awarded $7.4 million in active funding to support the and of women in pre-apprenticeships, registered programs, and nontraditional occupations. This will tremendously help women in manufacturing by ensuring their and .

At Elgin Community College, we take and seriously. We work to provide women the opportunities to become involved in our apprenticeship programs and encourage their success.

We are hosting an Apprenticeship Fair on April 6th, 2022! This event is a and opportunity for local employers and interested students/parents.

Students/Parents, you are invited to this event if you are interested in being hired or want to learn about becoming an apprentice at Elgin Community College. Moreover, you will be able to meet our partners at ICATT Apprenticeship Program. There will be two sessions that you can attend, the first at 11:00 a.m. and the second at 12:00 p.m. Choose the session that best fits your schedule. Matt Erbach, a Precision Manufacturing/Engineering Teacher at School District U-46, has been teaching for 15 years. We had the opportunity to chat with him about his experience and he explained that the job outlook is “greater now than ever” for manufacturing! He mentioned that “Northern Illinois is home to thousands of small and medium sized businesses that specialize in making just about everything imaginable…any hands on work will set a student up to be successful in a huge variety of jobs available right now.”
