🌎✈️ FIRST STAMP INFORMATION MEETING!

Schleicher County ISD 10th graders and families interested in the First Stamp travel program are invited to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday , September 22, 2026, at Sonora High School!

Sarah Williams, First Stamp representative, will be in Sonora to share information about the program and the exciting opportunities available to students.

Schleicher County ISD takes its responsibility to operate in an open, transparent, and legally compliant manner very seriously. We understand that community members want assurance that the district is following all required procedures when adopting its budget and tax rate, and we welcome the opportunity to clarify the process.
The district complied with the notice requirements contained in Texas Education Code §44.004. SCISD published the Comptroller-prescribed Notice of Public Meeting to Discuss Budget and Proposed Tax Rate (Form 50-280) on page 9 in the Eldorado Success on August 20, 2026. The public meeting was then held on August 31, 2026. State law requires this notice to be published not earlier than 30 days and not later than 10 days before the meeting. Publication on August 20 was 11 days before the meeting and therefore fell within the timeline required by law.
The notice included the information required by state law, including the date, time, and location of the meeting; the proposed tax rates; comparisons of the proposed budget and prior year's budget; comparisons of tax rates; and local and state revenue per student information. Texas law requires publication of this Comptroller-prescribed notice and does not require school districts to publish the entire proposed budget document prior to adoption.
In addition to publishing the required notice, the district posted its meeting agenda in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act and conducted the required public hearing before adopting the budget and tax rate.
