At Eldon Middle School, we often remind our students that as Mustangs, we leave people and places better than we found them.

Miss Karla lived those words every single day.

For years, she poured her heart into the people who walked through our doors. She cared for our students, loved our staff, welcomed our families, and made EMS feel like home to so many. Her kindness, compassion, and genuine love for people left a mark that will last far beyond her years with us.

Today was a difficult day for our Mustang family, but we showed up for one another. And I think that says a great deal about the kind of school family Miss Karla helped us become.

The beautiful thing about leaving people and places better than we found them is that our impact doesn't end when we're gone. It lives on in the people we've loved, the kindness we've shown, and the ways others choose to carry that kindness forward.

Miss Karla, you certainly left EMS better than you found us. We are heartbroken that you're gone, but we are forever grateful that you were ours.

Please continue to keep the Gier family and all who loved Miss Karla in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️

📣❤️💛 A little Mustang shoutout for our EMS Cheerleaders and Coach Frey!

We have received so many compliments this year about this group—and they have earned every single one of them.

What people see at games is the energy, the smiles, the cheers, and the school spirit. What they may not see are the hours of work behind it all. This team started putting in the work before school even began, and they have continued showing up week after week to practice, learn, improve, and prepare.

And right there with them is Coach Frey. She has poured a tremendous amount of time and energy into this team—setting expectations, teaching, encouraging, and helping these girls grow together. The work she has put in behind the scenes is reflected in what we see every time this group shows up to represent EMS.

These girls bring Mustang spirit wherever they go. They cheer for our teams, get our student sections involved, represent EMS well on the road, and bring an energy that makes our events more fun for everyone.

We are proud of the work these girls are putting in, thankful for Coach Frey’s investment in them, and grateful for the spirit they bring with them everywhere they go.

Keep it up, ladies! 📣🐴❤️💛

What happens to your heart rate when your body goes from resting to working hard? ❤️🩺

Mrs. Snelling’s 8th grade Medical Detectives Project Lead the Way students put that question to the test! Students participated in everything from calm, resting activities to jumping jacks and burpees, tracking their heart rates along the way and comparing how their bodies responded to different levels of activity.

This is PLTW learning in action—asking questions, collecting real data, analyzing results, and using what they discover to better understand how the human body works.

And yes…sometimes science involves burpees. 😅

Eldon graduate Austin Rush was crowned the 2026 University of Missouri Homecoming King today at Mizzou!

Austin’s story is a pretty great one for our current EMS Mustangs to see. Before becoming a senior nursing student and four-year member of Marching Mizzou, he was an Eldon student involved in basketball, track, and the Eldon Marching Band.

Our students spend their middle school years discovering what they enjoy, what they’re good at, and who they want to become. It’s pretty incredible to watch those early interests grow into experiences, opportunities, and accomplishments years down the road.

Congratulations, Austin!
