🌱🐄 Farm to School Day 🍎🎃🚜
What a fun day of learning, exploring, and celebrating Georgia Agriculture!
Our students had the opportunity to get up close with cows, goats, a tractor and enjoy delicious smoothies made with Georgia Grown apples and fresh strawberries!
A huge thank you to Georgia Farm Bureau for joining us for a fun pumpkin lesson and sending each student home with their very own Georgia Grown pumpkin! 🎃
And we didn’t stop with the activities—EVERYTHING served for lunch was Georgia Grown! From our breakfast casserole and home-style potatoes to our delicious apple compote, students got to experience just how amazing locally grown food can be. 🌾🍎🥔
We were also so grateful to have our Middle and High School FFA students join us to lend a helping hand throughout the day. Their leadership and willingness to serve made the day even more special! 💚
Farm to School is about more than just food—it’s about connecting our students to agriculture, our farmers, and our community while showing them where their food comes from. 🌱
We are so proud to bring these experiences to our students and even prouder to celebrate Georgia Grown! 🍎🎃🐄🚜

We're so glad to have her as part of our team!

Our Work Based Learning Student of the Week is Junior Olivia Paramore. Olivia works with Elbert County's School Nutrition Program and is responsible for the new "Breakfast in the Gym" program. Her mentors say she is going a fantastic job at encouraging her peers to eat breakfast in order to "fuel their day" as well as super smart and detail oriented to ensure that all ESDA rules and regulations are followed. Thank you, Olivia, for being a positive ECCHS in our community! Elbert County Comprehensive High School Elbert County School Nutrition

🍉🌶️ GA GROWN FEATURE OF THE MONTH! 🌶️🍉
Watermelon is bringing a taste of Georgia to our cafeterias! Our GA Grown Harvest of the month is one of summer’s sweetest favorites—Georgia-Grown Watermelon! This month, our School Nutrition team gave it a fun twist by serving a Chili Lime Melon Mix. A little sweet, a little zesty, and a whole lot of delicious!
But the learning doesn’t have to stop when students leave the cafeteria! We’ve attached some fun watermelon conversation cards from Fueling Georgia’s Future: Farm to School, for families to enjoy together!
Be sure to look for our harvest of the month item each month!

During the banquet, we had the privilege of recognizing staff members for their years of dedicated service and honoring those who achieved perfect attendance throughout the school year.
Thank you to every member of our team for your dedication to serving nutritious meals with a smile and for helping create a positive experience for our students each day.

🌾🐄 That’s a wrap on our final Farm to School Day of the school year! 🐐🍓

What an unforgettable day celebrating agriculture, community, and fresh, local flavors! Our amazing School Nutrition staff served up a delicious Georgia Grown meal, bringing farm-fresh goodness straight to our students’ trays.
We were so grateful to our community partners who brought the farm to life with visits from alpacas, horses, goats, a cow, and even a sweet rabbit—creating hands-on learning moments our students won’t forget!
The fun didn’t stop there:
🎨 Face painting by our talented middle school FFA students
🍓 Fresh smoothies made with Georgia-Grown Strawberries
🥜 Trail mix featuring Georgia-grown peanuts

From the smiles to the learning experiences, this day truly showcased the power of connecting students to where their food comes from. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special—we can’t wait to do it all again next time! 🌱💚

To our incredible school nutrition team: thank you for everything you do, day in and day out. You do so much more than serve meals—you create welcoming spaces, offer loving smiles, and make sure every student feels cared for and like they matter.

Because of you, our cafeterias are more than just a place to eat—they’re a place where students feel seen, supported, and valued.

We appreciate you more than words can say. Today, we celebrate YOU—the true heroes behind every tray served. 💙🍎
