A BIG shout-out to Mrs. Keblish’s Art Classes this fall! πŸ‘πŸŽ¨

Our students have been letting their creativity flow and showing us that there is no limit to what they can imagine, create, and bring to life! πŸŒˆπŸ–ŒοΈ

From exploring different artistic techniques to putting their own personal touches into their work, our Eagles are learning that art is a place to express themselves, take creative risks, and let their imaginations soar.

We love seeing the creativity, individuality, and joy our students bring to the art room each day! ❀️

Thank you, Mrs. Keblish, for creating a space where our students can explore, create, and discover their inner artists! πŸŽ¨πŸ‘

πŸ¦… Keep creating, Eagles! Your creativity has no limits!

5th Grade Erosion & Engineering Challenges

Our 5th graders were putting their science knowledge into action during STEAM! πŸ”¬πŸ’‘

Students explored the effects of erosion through a hands-on investigation using saltines as a model for land. πŸ§‚πŸŒŽ By observing how materials break down and change, students were able to see how erosion can affect Earth's surface.

But the learning didn't stop there! Students also became engineers and were challenged to use the available resources to design and build a plow. 🚜

Through these hands-on challenges, our Eagles practiced:

🌎 Understanding the effects of erosion
πŸ”¬ Making observations and drawing conclusions
🧠 Problem-solving and critical thinking
πŸ› οΈ Using the engineering design process
🀝 Collaborating and communicating with teammates
πŸ’‘ Designing creative solutions with limited resources

What better way to learn than to experiment, build, test, and learn from the results?

Our 5th graders are proving that when science meets engineering, learning really comes to life!

4th Grade Fall STEAM Centers πŸŽƒπŸŒ½

Our 4th graders were FULL STEAM AHEAD during their recent Fall STEAM Centers in Mrs. Marlow’s class! πŸπŸ”¬

Students were placed into collaborative groups and challenged to complete five different hands-on STEAM activities. Each center encouraged students to think creatively, communicate, problem-solve, and work together to build and create.

πŸŽƒ Pumpkin Tower – Can you build a tower that stands tall and strong?
πŸŒ‰ Pumpkin Bridge – Can your team engineer a bridge that can support weight?
πŸ•ΈοΈ Web Weaver – Can you create a strong web using teamwork and strategy?
🌽 Cornfield Maze – Can you design and navigate a challenging maze?
🌳 Tree Maker – Can you engineer a tree while working within the design challenge?

Through each challenge, our Eagles practiced important skills like collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and engineering designβ€”all while having a little fall fun! πŸ‚πŸ’‘

We love watching our students learn by doing, build by thinking, and grow by working together!

3rd Grade Habitat Engineers 🐾🌿

Our 3rd graders were FULL STEAM AHEAD in Mrs. Marlow’s STEAM class as they put their science learning into action! πŸ”¬βœ¨

After learning about animal habitats in Science, students became habitat designers and engineers! πŸ»πŸ¦‰πŸ’πŸ¦

First, students applied what they had learned about their animal and its needs to design a model habitat. Then, they took their ideas one step further by using LEGO bricks to construct their habitats! 🧱🌳🏠

Students had to think like scientists and engineers as they considered:

🌱 What does my animal need to survive?
πŸ’§ Where will it find water?
🍎 What will it eat?
🏑 What kind of shelter does it need?
🌎 What features make this habitat a good home for the animal?

This hands-on experience allowed students to apply science concepts, design solutions, build, problem-solve, and get creative!

We love seeing our Eagles turn what they learn in the classroom into something they can design, build, and bring to life! πŸ¦…πŸ’‘

Science + Engineering + Creativity = FULL STEAM AHEAD! πŸš€

September STEAM Spotlight πŸ”πŸͺ

September was an out-of-this-world month of learning at ECES! 🌎✨

Our 4th grade students had the opportunity to explore the solar system through an immersive experience in the STAR Lab! πŸͺπŸŒ™β

This exciting learning experience was made possible through a wonderful collaboration between Mrs. Marlow, our 4th grade teachers, and Alec Johnson from Oconee River GYSTC.

Students stepped inside the STAR Lab and traveled beyond our classroom walls to experience the wonders of space while learning more about our solar system, planets, and the science behind our universe. πŸŒŒπŸš€

Experiences like these bring STEAM learning to life by allowing students to explore, wonder, question, and discover!

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Marlow, our 4th grade teachers, and Alec Johnson for helping our Eagles reach for the stars! πŸ¦…β
