A couple of weeks ago, we caught
our Assistant Principal walking
down the hallway for one of our
silly “What’s Your Walk-Up Song?”
videos. The clip has been sitting in
my camera roll ever since, waiting
on its song and its moment.
Today, it didn’t feel right to give it
one.
Instead, that little hallway walk
seemed like the perfect way to
lead us into sharing something
incredibly special with our Elba
community: Dolly Parton’s
Imagination Library.
And today, sharing it carries a
little more weight.
As we mourn the loss of Dolly
Parton, we are also reminded of
the extraordinary legacy she
created; a legacy that will continue
arriving in mailboxes, being
opened by little hands, read at
bedtime, and helping children fall
in love with books.
While our students at EHS may
be a little too big for the Imagination
Library these days, we know there
are plenty of future Tigers in our
community who aren’t.
We wanted to use our platform to
help spread the word so Elba
families know this opportunity is
available.
So, the walk-up song can wait..
Today, this walk is for something
much bigger.
Thank you, Dolly, for believing that
every child deserves a library of
their own. Your legacy will keep
turning pages for generations.
