This Saturday, we’re celebrating three decades of getting kids outside—and we want YOU there! It’s free, everyone’s welcome, and there’ll be plenty of fun for all ages!

A few weeks ago, our Let’s Grow and Go session was full of curiosity, laughter, learning, and connection to the land. Our campers explored what it means to grow food, care for the land, and build community through harvesting, tasting, and sharing stories. Together, we discovered that healthy food systems are built by people who care deeply about the land, animals, water, pollinators, and the places they call home.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our food systems organizers for sharing your stories, wisdom, and delicious food, and for making this week so meaningful and fun for our kids.

✨ Thank you to Corilia Ortega for sharing the joys of farming, your orchard, and your turkeys (and turkey yoga!)

✨ Thank you to the many folks at NMSU’s Alcalde Sustainable Agriculture Science Center, who welcomed us and shared their passion for agricultural research.

✨ Thank you to Raul Rodriguez of Rodriguez S&J Farm for sharing your experiences growing food for both farmers markets and food distribution programs that expand access to locally grown fruits and vegetables for communities and schools across New Mexico.

✨ Thank you to Buck Johnston of EarthLAWS for sharing your wisdom about food webs, acequias and recharging aquifers, animal caretaking (baby goats, pigs, and ducks!), seed-saving, and so much more.

🐐 Thank you to Nora and for welcoming us to Rio Fernando Park and introducing us to your goats, which one camper proudly described as “the best lawnmowers!”

Farm Treats:

✨ Thank you to Keegan (and Ian, Owen, and Carrie) of farm of song for delivering delicious apricots all the way from Albuquerque for our first farm treat of the week!

✨ Thank you to Emma Patterson of riolucerofarms for our delicious end-of-the-week farm treat (sweet peas!) and for your suggested sweet dip recipe—it was a camper favorite!

Together, these folks shared hands-on learning experiences and knowledge, inspiring curiosity and deepening our campers’ understanding of Northern New Mexico’s vibrant local food system.

Epic NM Backyard Week did not disappoint! Temps were high down low so we headed up for some of the finest high alpine rides! Northside, SBT to Mondragon, and East Fork to Lost Lake. This group of riders is ready for adventures, in it for the camaraderie, not afraid to push their limits, and never misses the views and beauty. We love sharing the fun! FITaos Bikes

Our 25th Annual Rubber Duck Race was a HUGE success! 🦆💛

Together, we raised a record-breaking $7,440 for scholarships that help get more kids playing, exploring, and learning outside. 🌿✨ This is the most we’ve ever raised through our Rubber Duck Race, and we couldn’t have done it without this incredible community!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored a duck, came out to cheer on the duckies down the Rio Hondo, and to our incredible volunteers who made the day possible. This event wouldn’t happen without you!

We’re also so grateful to our amazing local businesses who generously donated prizes and continue to support youth outdoor experiences in our community. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping get more kids outside! 💚
