🌱🐣 From Egg to Earth: A Living Lesson in Zoology & Botany 🐣🌱

Our children explored the beautiful connection between life cycles and nature. What once held life as an egg is now nurturing new life as a plant.

Through hands-on experiences, the children observed how eggshells, once part of an animal, can return to the earth and support plant growth. This simple yet powerful work brings together zoology, botany, and care for our environment.

In true Montessori fashion, the children are not just learning, they are experiencing the cycle of life, understanding how everything in nature is connected, and developing a deep respect for living things.

From caring for animals to planting seeds, we are nurturing curious minds and compassionate hearts every day.

In our Adolescent Program, students explore different fields and real-world roles. This week, one of our adolescent students stepped into the role of teacher, guiding several lessons for the younger class.

Moments like this build confidence, leadership, and strengthen the bonds within our Montessori community. 🌱

This morning our Elementary classroom prepared breakfast using eggs collected from our own chickens; a meaningful extension of our Zoology & Botanical Program. Through hands-on experiences, the children explored the connection between animal care, food sources, and practical life skills. From gathering the eggs to preparing and sharing a meal together, the work encouraged responsibility, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for nature and where our food comes from. Experiences like these bring Montessori learning to life by integrating science, independence, and real-world application into the daily environment.

Nestled in the peaceful nature of the Upper Valley, the learning environment at Casa de Colores lends itself to self-regulation that begins with connection, routine, and meaningful work.

Trevizo supports our children through equine therapy by providing a calming presence and real-time emotional feedback.

When children approach him with patience, slow movements, and respectful care, Trevizo responds calmly—helping children practice:
✨ mindfulness and breath work
✨ impulse control
✨ empathy and kindness
✨ responsibility through animal care

Trevizo is truly a peaceful guide in our intentionally prepared environment. 🖤

❄️ A Serene Winter Morning at Casa de Colores Montessori

There is something truly special about quiet moments like this at our school. As the snow gently falls, our animals roam peacefully, enjoying the fresh air and calm atmosphere.

Our children are so fortunate to experience nature in real time; caring for animals, observing seasonal changes, and learning respect for all living things. These moments support self-regulation, responsibility, and a deep connection to the world around them, which are all key parts of our Montessori philosophy and peace curriculum.

Nature is one of our greatest teachers 🌿
