El Paso KIDS-N-CO.

El Paso KIDS-N-CO. El Paso KIDS-N-CO. is El Paso's only non-profit community theater (with an emphasis on education) for families and young people in the El Paso area. KIDS-N-CO.

The El Paso KIDS-N-CO. Theatrical and Performance Center serves more than 25,000 young people and their families yearly through its five main stage productions, education programs and outreach components. As the only major, non-profit organization in El Paso focusing solely on youth and family theater, KIDS-N-CO. builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early

appreciation of literature, social studies, art and the performing arts in tomorrow’s artists and patrons. Founded by Jan Wolfe, Chet Frame and Yvonne Carranza, KIDS-N-CO. educates and involves young people of all backgrounds in the theater arts. Through its programs, KIDS-N-CO. fosters self-esteem and self-discovery by emphasizing discipline, integrity, team-building, and communication skills in a positive and creative environment. promotes access to theater arts for families who do not have regular opportunities to appreciate theater in their lives because of economic, cultural, or other barriers. believes that theater provides a unique learning opportunity, which exposes children & adults alike to ideas and imagery that reflect their own experiences and challenge their own understanding of the world in which we live. To this end, KIDS-N-CO. aims to engage and inspire children, and to produce theater that reaches beyond the stage. Young people are not charged to participate in productions. Budget requirements are met through grants, corporate & individual donations, and other fundraising activities. Funds are used for costumes, scripts, royalties, building material, paint, tools, the monthly lease, utilities, payroll etc. programs are made possible through support from the Price's Give 'Em Five Fund, Peter Piper Pizza, tthe Robert E. & Evelyn McKee Foundation, the Hunt Family Foundation, and the Wells Fargo Foundation.

NORTH SHORE MADE THE NEWS.

The halls of North Shore found their way to KVIA ABC-7’s Good Vibes Only — and we couldn’t think of a better name for what’s happening on our stage.

KVIA ABC-7 stopped by to meet the young El Paso performers bringing Mean Girls High School Version to life and to share a little of the talent, heart and hard work behind this production.

These students have taken familiar characters and made them their own. They’ve rehearsed, learned, laughed, stretched themselves and stepped onto that stage night after night ready to tell this story.

Now El Paso gets a little peek behind the curtain.

Watch the Good Vibes Only feature, then come experience the real thing.

And if you’ve been telling yourself, “I still need to see Mean Girls…”

This is your reminder. The Burn Book is almost closed.

Some KIDS-N-CO. memories only need one photograph.

In 2010, members of the cast of W***y Wonka and the Chocolate Factory had the opportunity to perform at Region 19’s “Culture in the Classroom” event on the historic Plaza Theatre stage—and meet Sonia Manzano, known to generations of children as Maria from Sesame Street.

Longtime KIDS-N-CO. photographer Stella Gutierrez was there to capture the moment.

Through the Lens is our photographic memory series: one image, one memory, and another glimpse into the history of KIDS-N-CO.

See Stella’s photograph and her memory of that day in the newest Through the Lens on our Substack, KIDS-N-CO. News.

Behind every student finding their way, there’s usually a teacher somewhere in the story.

Tonight, we’re giving the teachers their flowers — including our own North Shore educator, Ms. Norbury, brought to life by Mia Carreon and Vanessa Payan.

Through Ms. Norbury, we see the many sides of a great teacher: celebrating the wins, offering encouragement, keeping students on track, and sometimes simply being the person standing in their corner.

And while Mean Girls gives us plenty to laugh about, there’s something very real underneath it.

Teachers take on so much more than what appears in a lesson plan. They teach. They listen. They encourage. They challenge. They notice. And every day, they help young people figure out who they are becoming.

So tonight, as Ms. Norbury steps onto our stage, we’re also celebrating the real teachers in our community who show up for young people every day.

Thank you for all you do.

Maybe you’ve watched from the audience long enough. It might be your turn to take the stage.

Our Fall Classes begin September 12, and there is still time to join us.

This fall, we’re especially excited to open the rehearsal room to adult performers ages 18+—from experienced actors looking to sharpen their craft to complete beginners who have always wondered what it would be like to step onstage.

Led by Thomas Gandrup, Adult Acting will introduce students to foundational approaches associated with Uta Hagen and Sanford Meisner. Students will explore presence, listening, truthful response, character development, stronger acting choices, and authentic connection with scene partners.

The class will then bring those developing skills to Shakespearean text and performance—exploring how to approach the language, uncover character and intention beneath the words, and make classical material feel alive onstage.

Students will work toward a live performance on November 21.

No previous acting experience is required. Come with experience, come after years away from the stage, or come simply because you’ve always wanted to try.

ADULT ACTING with Thomas Gandrup
Ages 18+
Saturdays, 6–9 PM

And our younger performers still have time to join us, too:

MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE with Ariel Robles
Ages 8–18
Saturdays, 9 AM–12 PM

YOUTH THEATER ACTING with Raul Chavez
Ages 8–18
Saturdays, 2–4 PM

All three classes begin September 12 and culminate in a live performance on November 21.

Registration is still open, but the clock is ticking.
