Coronado Montessori is the sister school of Escuela Montessori Del Valle. Both schools have been owned and operated by the Filley Family here in El Paso, Texas since 1974. Conveniently located on El Paso's beautiful Westside, Coronado Montessori offers both half and full-day classes for children ages 18 months through six years old. In addition to an excellent academic program, we also provide qua

lity before and after-school care for those families who need extra hours. Coronado Montessori also offers a continuing 10 week Summer Program. At Coronado Montessori we offer:

A little birthday math in the classroom 🎂

Yesterday, while celebrating Maria Montessori’s birthday, the children did a little investigating of their own. They figured out that she lived to be 81 years old and that, if she were alive today, she would be 156 years old!

🌿 Celebrating Maria Montessori | August 31, 1870

156 years ago today, Maria Montessori was born.

She could never have known how many classrooms, teachers, families, and—most importantly—children would be touched by the work she began.

Her belief was beautifully simple: respect the child, prepare the environment, encourage independence, and trust in what the child is capable of becoming.

Today, her work continues every time we wait instead of rushing to help, observe instead of interrupt, and give a child the opportunity to proudly say…

“I did it myself.”

In a Montessori classroom, children are active members of their community. Caring for their environment—vacuuming, sweeping, wiping tables, watering plants, and returning materials—is meaningful work.

These everyday responsibilities build independence, coordination, concentration, confidence, and respect for shared spaces.

It’s more than cleaning. It’s learning, “I am capable, and I have an important role in my community.”
