Thomas Manor was named after the developer of the community, George Thomas of "George Thomas Homes". He lived for while, or so I was lead to believe at the corner of Gladys and McCarthy next to the Hamburger Inn. Who remembers the large billboard on Alameda and McCarthy that said "Welcome to Thomas Manor Community"? It was where the Chevron is now.

What they found was a vibrant community with many opportunities for growth and friendships. With so many wonderful educators, spirited students and parental support, Thomas Manor Elementary offered a great education that included field trips and visiting educators. It was only as an adult that I came to truly appreciate all we were taught and shown.
