Throughout history, cultures built obelisks to connect the earth to the sky and mark monumental milestones. In our Montessori, the Obelisk Ceremony marks a profound transition: our oldest Elementary students moving upward into the Adolescent program. ✨
It is a beautiful, full-circle moment. Many of these children started with us as toddlers, working with those very same iconic pink tower. Over the years, they have built a solid foundation and left an indelible mark on our community.
To honor this journey, each student places a personalized leaf onto the obelisk.
Surrounded by moving peer speeches, heartfelt expressions of gratitude for their families, and poster boards showcasing their personal development, they celebrate the deep roots they’ve grown within our prepared environment.
Congratulations to the students moving to Adolescent Program! 🌿🏛️❤️

Farmer's Market Copy:
From the soil to the stall, every step is a milestone in independence. 🌱✨
In our environment, we often talk about the "full-cycle journey," which is the profound realization a child experiences when they see the direct result of their own concentration, patience, and labor.
It begins quietly in the garden. Hands in the earth, planting seeds, and learning the delicate rhythm of nature. This isn't just a science lesson; it’s a lesson in waiting, nurturing, and respecting the living world. 👩🌾🌾
Next, that patience transforms into purposeful work in the kitchen. Measuring, mixing, and crafting in small, deliberate batches. Here, abstract mathematical concepts and practical life skills become beautifully tangible. There is an immense, quiet pride that fills a child when they create something real with their own two hands. 🥣✨
And finally, the journey reaches its crowning achievement: the Farmers’ Market.
When a child stands behind their own market stall, offering what they grew and crafted to a neighbor, a beautiful shift happens. They aren't just selling a product. They are practicing social grace, building conversational poise, and discovering their own place within the wider community. It is their Magnum Opus, a bridge connecting classroom discovery to the real world.
Every item on our table represents hours of deep focus, collaboration, and a child saying, "I can do it myself."
✨ We’d love to know: Which part of this entrepreneurial journey are you most excited to see our children navigate? The patient cultivation, the joyful crafting, or the confidence of the marketplace? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

There is something deeply powerful about gathering as Montessori adults to reconnect with the heart of this work. 🌎✨
This June, we are honored to welcome educator, trainer, and Montessori advocate Claudia Mann to Mt. West Montessori for a beautiful morning exploring The Heart of Maria Montessori’s Cosmic Education.
Cosmic Education is not simply a curriculum.
It is a vision of connection, peace, responsibility, wonder, and humanity. It is the invitation to help children understand that everything in life is interconnected — and that they have a meaningful place within it.
Whether you are a Montessori guide, administrator, aspiring educator, or parent, this workshop will leave you inspired, grounded, and deeply connected to the purpose behind Montessori education.
✨ June 13th
✨ 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
✨ Mt. West Montessori — El Paso, TX

Ricardo and Margarita Cabrera founded Mountain West Montessori with a belief that children could develop within the Montessori philosophy and among nature.
An education rooted in respect, connection, and the belief that every child should be truly seen.
Years later, I now hold the responsibility as a Head of School…
And now my son Marcelo is now walking this path too, serving as a Montessori Elementary guide himself.
Three generations.
One shared purpose.
And somewhere alongside that journey…
A new building is rising.
But this expansion was never just about creating more space.
It’s about continuing something that began long before the walls existed.
A commitment to children.
To families.
To nurturing growth in a way that lasts far beyond the classroom.
Because when something is built with love and purpose…
It doesn’t end with one generation.
It keeps growing.
And watching that continue within our own family while creating a space for future generations of children…
That’s the part that means the most.
