This past weekend, our chapter attended the 66th TSTA-AE State Convention and House of Delegates in Austin, Texas. We attended several professional development sessions and met fellow aspiring educators from all over Texas.

Our chapter attended workshops about social justice in the classroom, where we learned about what we can do as teachers to ensure our classroom is a safe space for our students and how to communicate this with them. First-year teachers provided us with tips for the first year of teaching, how to successfully establish routines, and classroom expectations from day one. We learned about our strengths and weaknesses through social-emotional learning and how we can use it to improve our planning. Last but not least, we learned the basics of special education, how students are tested and how they qualify for services. These experience will help all of us throughout our careers as future educators.

We were able to attend this convention thanks to the incredible support we received from the College of Education. . We are so grateful and more than ever, we know how fortunate we are to have your support!

We can’t wait for next years State Convention 🥳

As education justice leaders, America's next generation of educators recognize our role in creating bias and hate free school environments where Black students and educators are welcomed, treated with dignity, and can thrive and grow.

Go to bit.ly/J4BLWEEK to sign on to our statement in solidarity - "Aspiring Educators: Demand Justice For Black Lives Through Safe, Just and Equitable Schools."

We know schools and their communities are strengthened when we work together.
