💗 Today at the YTA Office, We Were Blessed with an Absolute Treasure! 💗

We were honored to welcome Carol Love, a teacher at Loma Terrace, who stopped by to pick up her pink YTA shirt to wear this Friday in remembrance of Dolly Parton and her support for public education. 📚💗

Carol has taught at Loma Terrace for an incredible 50 years — and has been a YTA member for all 50 of those years! Even more special, she taught my wife, Heather, in fourth grade!

Thank you, Carol, for 50 years of dedication to our students, our profession, and YTA. We are truly grateful to call you one of our own!

This Friday, August 28th, YTA invites all members to wear pink in remembrance of Dolly Parton and to honor her lasting support for children, literacy, and public education. 📚🍎

💗 YTA MEMBERS: Stop by the YTA office (10910 Ben Crenshaw Ste. A 79935, behind the Village Inn on Trawood) to pick up a FREE pink YTA T-shirt to wear on Friday!

Today, we mourn the passing of Dolly Parton, an extraordinary artist whose impact reached far beyond music.

As advocates for teachers and working people, we at the Ysleta Teachers Association have long admired Dolly’s commitment to literacy and her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and dream. Through the Imagination Library, she put that belief into action, putting millions of books into the hands of children.

But Dolly’s legacy is also one of compassion and advocacy. She consistently used her platform to lift up people who are too often overlooked, disenfranchised, or marginalized. She understood that dignity, opportunity, and economic independence are not privileges. They are things every person deserves.

Her advocacy for women’s financial independence and wage equity reflected that same belief: that people should have the ability to support themselves, their families, and their dreams through their own hard work.

Dolly Parton reminded us that you can be enormously successful without forgetting where you came from, and that having a platform means having an opportunity to lift someone else up.

On behalf of the educators and working families we represent, I’m grateful for the example she leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the books, the music, the kindness, and most importantly, for never forgetting the people who needed a hand up.
