Since 1973, our campus has focused on improving community health through education, research, and patient care—serving the diverse needs of our border region.

TTUHSC El Paso is the fourth university in the Texas Tech University System and is composed of four schools: the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine. TTUHSC El Paso is the first health sciences center along the U.S.-Mexico border and provides an environment for direct intellectual and interpersonal exchanges among graduate researchers, and nursing and medical students on one campus. With a regional population of 2.7 million, the university is positioned to lead the nation in border health initiatives, making it an exciting place to learn, conduct research and treat patients.

🎗️ Kicking cancer, together. ⚽️

We were proud to join El Paso Locomotive FC for Kickin’ Cancer Night at Southwest University Park, bringing our community together to raise awareness, support local families and honor everyone impacted by cancer. We’re grateful to the Locos for their support of cancer care in our community. Through their Jersey Giveaway, $5,050 was presented to the Texas Tech Fund, Inc. to support the Fox Cancer Center Patient Fund. Thank you for helping make a difference for patients and families in El Paso.

A special shoutout to Serena, Clinical Education Coordinator at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine, whose own cancer journey makes this cause deeply personal. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of routine screenings and breast self-awareness.

And congratulations to Stephanie Medina, who was recognized as Artist of the Match during the evening!🎨

Congratulations to Sarah Martin, M.D., on being named an El Paso Inc. Woman of Impact!

Through her work at Texas Tech Health El Paso, Dr. Martin has dedicated her career to strengthening children’s mental health care, expanding access to behavioral health services in underserved communities and training the next generation of psychiatrists.

Her leadership, compassion and commitment to service are helping create a healthier future for children and families across our Borderplex and beyond. We’re proud to have Dr. Martin representing Texas Tech Health El Paso and making a lasting impact on the community we serve.

The GECU Foundation has invested $500,000 in the future Steve and Nancy Fox Cancer Center at Texas Tech Health El Paso, supporting the Building Hope Campaign and helping bring comprehensive cancer care closer to home for families across the region.

From orthodontist to founder 🦷

In the latest issue of The Heart of Here, we’re highlighting the story of Dr. Richard Black, founding dean of the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and the vision behind one of Texas’ newest dental schools.

After nearly four decades in orthodontics, Dr. Black took on a new challenge: building a dental school from the ground up and helping shape the next generation of oral health professionals. Today, that vision continues to impact students, patients and the El Paso community.
