Our second-year graduate student, Kevin Vasquez, recently completed his externship at the UAB Voice Center, where he gained hands-on experience working with voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. Reflecting on his experience, Kevin shared that although he was initially overwhelmed by the complexity of the cases, the experience ultimately pushed him to grow as a clinician and strengthened his ability to navigate complex cases through effective communication, counseling, and clinical reasoning. 🧡
“My biggest takeaway is that regardless of the setting or population you serve, we are medical detectives trying to help individuals live their best possible lives.” ⭐️
We are so proud of Kevin and all of the dedication, resilience, and compassion he continues to bring into the field of speech-language pathology! 💙
