New work at A Dozen Nothing!
Happy New Year! We're excited to launch our fourth year with new poems by Jeff Alessandrelli!
The author of a short poetic biography of the French avant-garde composer Erik Satie, a short essay collection focusing on The Notorious B.I.G. and skateboarding, and a poetry collection–THIS LAST TIME WILL BE THE FIRST–that Rain Taxi deemed “immensely fresh and playful…rooted in a childlike antiquity,” Jeff Alessandrelli lives in Portland, Oregon, where he also runs the vinyl record-only poetry label Fonograf Editions, and co-produces the music/writing radio show/podcast The Steer. Recent work by him appears/is forthcoming in The American Poetry Review and Hong Kong Review of Books.
Due to a problem with our Minetracker account, our reservation in the student union has been temporarily cancelled. We're very sorry to announce that there will be no workshop tonight while we attempt to resolve this issue.
In lieu of tonight's workshop, the club will be attending the Mining Books book group monthly meeting for a lecture and group discussion of the novel "In the Name of Salome" by Julia Alvarez led by Dr. Marion Rohrleitner-- 6PM Blumberg Auditorium. We hope to see everyone there!

Hope everyone can make it to workshop tonight! 7 PM 102H River View Room, Union East. We have some upcoming activities to discuss, and hopefully some of you are cranking out some exciting new work for us to read!
Because we at UCWS believe that we should be reading as much as we write, and because we want to show our enthusiasm and support for the new Mining Books series sponsored by the Literature Department, tonight's UCWS meeting is cancelled.
We will be attending Dr. Brian Yothers' lecture and group discussion of the novel "The Passages of H.M." by Jay Parini-- 6PM Bloomberg Auditorium. We hope to see everyone there!
Our first workshop of the year will be tonight at 7:00PM, Union East room 102H the River View Room. Hope everyone can come and bring some work!
I hope everyone had a good summer. We will be holding a short meeting and information session to discuss officer elections, workshop schedules, and our goals for readings/activities this semester. It will be tomorrow Wednesday August 29th in the union east 102H River View Room at 7PM. Hope everyone can make it out!
