Lead the Future of Mining at UTEP

08/26/2026

We love the start of a new school year! Our team met with students and spread the word about the Mining Engineering program at the Miguel A. Loya College of Engineering Welcome Back event, where we answered questions about what our program has to offer.

For future Miners, we're always here to answer questions! Learn more about the program by emailing us at [email protected], or fill out the information form here: utep.edu/programs/undergraduate/mining-engineering.html

We can't believe it's already been one month since our inaugural Mining Engineering Summer Camp! We hope to see these future Miners again touring campus, at Orange and Blue Day in October and at New Student Orientation once they join the UTEP family! 🧡

Did you know that UTEP has a program that can help you graduate DEBT-FREE?

The Paydirt Promise is a program that covers 100% of tuition and fees for eligible Texas residents with a family income of $100,000 or less, using a combination of grants and scholarships.

All eligible students who complete the FAFSA or TASFA are automatically considered for the Paydirt Promise.

We already miss our campers! 🫶 🧡

Earlier this week, we concluded the last of our three inaugural Mining Engineering Summer Camps. These high schoolers spent part of their vacations immersing themselves in the field of mining engineering, and got a glimpse of campus life. ⛏️

We miss seeing these future Miners on our campus, but we still want to hear from you! Keep in touch with questions about our program at [email protected], or fill out the form at the link: utep.edu/programs/undergraduate/mining-engineering.html

Thank you to everyone who made this camp a success!

The first session of our inaugural Mining Engineering Summer Camp series is in the books. On to camps two and three!

We've had a lot of fun introducing students to our campus through a variety of activities, including a visit to UTEP's practice mine. This site near Sun Bowl Stadium was once used by students when UTEP was known as the College of Mines and Metallurgy, where they learned practical mining skills and earned laboratory credit. ⛏️

A big to these students for taking an important step toward their educational futures by exploring mining engineering during their summer break!
