Dear HSS–El Paso Elementary Families,

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. On Friday, September 11, our campus will commemorate Patriot Day with age-appropriate activities focused on remembrance, courage, gratitude, service, and unity.

❤️🤍💙 All students and staff are invited to wear red, white, and blue or patriotic colors with jeans.

Throughout the day, students will participate in:

🇺🇸 A moment of reflection
⭐ Age-appropriate classroom activities
💌 Thank-you cards for first responders and community heroes
🤝 Activities promoting kindness, service, and unity

Together, we will honor the heroes, remember those whose lives were affected, and teach our students the importance of coming together as one community.

The UTEP Bridging Creativity Project worked with out 4th & 5th grade students to create their own puppets using minimal and reusable materials, such as paper and tape. Through step-by-step instruction, students explored how breath, movement, imagination, and creativity contributed to the development of a unique character. The project provided students with an opportunity to express themselves creatively while demonstrating how simple, readily available resources can be transformed into meaningful works of art.

We are excited to host a beautiful morning filled with special activities for our grandparents and their grandchildren on Saturday, September 12!

Grandparents will have an opportunity to read with their grandchildren in a picnic-style setting. We will also have games, food, nachos, and hot dogs—all free for participating grandparents and students. Let’s come together to create memories that will last forever!

Students participating in our Saturday Academy will join their grandparents at 10:00 a.m.

To help us plan accordingly, please register in advance. Only one registration is needed per family.

📚 Our Scholastic Book Fair Is Coming!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair will take place from September 9–18 at Harmony School of Science El Paso!

Students may visit and make purchases during their scheduled lunch periods. Families will also have two special opportunities to shop:

📚 Saturday, September 12
8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

📚 Parent/Teacher Conference—September 18
2:00–5:00 p.m.

Families may also use the provided link to make purchases online.

Every purchase supports our school while encouraging students to discover new books and develop a love of reading. We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!
