Choosing the Right Child Care: What Parents Need to Know
Recently, we received a review regarding a child care center. While we won’t disclose specific details at this time due to privacy concerns and the need to validate claims, we want to address an important issue that has come up multiple times from anonymous members of the community.
Families should know that child care centers are allowed to let parents in. If a center is restricting your access without a valid reason, this is something that should be looked into. Of course, there are moments when temporary restrictions make sense—such as during diaper changes to protect children's privacy—but a center should not have a blanket policy barring parents from entering.
When choosing child care, we strongly encourage families to do their research. Visit the center, observe the environment, speak with staff, and most importantly, talk with the director about how the center is run. We have received concerning reports about a particular center, and while we are still gathering information, we want to remind families to pay close attention to red flags when selecting child care.
We share this not to cause alarm but to emphasize the importance of being informed. Parents should always trust their instincts, ask questions, and review the center’s licensing history through DFPS (Department of Family and Protective Services). A high-quality child care center should be open, transparent, and focused on the well-being of children and families.
