Latin American & Border Studies research assistants, Vanessa Almada and Felipe Martinez, enjoying a productive summer! Vanessa was awarded a US Department of Education Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Summer Fellowship in São Paulo, Brazil. Felipe is learning and working in Washington, D.C., through the Graduate Archer Fellowship Program. This program was established by the University of Texas System to bring graduate and medical students interested in policy and politics to our nation’s capital to learn about the federal government and public service. Graduate research assistants for Ct for Inter-Amer Border Studies showcase their posters at Geo X Day. This event is a celebration of geospatial innovation, student research, and academic excellence. Awards recognized top undergraduate and graduate projects using GIS, remote sensing, AI/ML, and geospatial techniques.

Applications are currently being accepted for the master's program in Latin American and Border Studies. The curriculum provides students with an engaging and thorough education in Latin American and Border issues, relating regional issues to larger hemispheric phenomena. The program thus has many opportunities for students to develop their own interests and skills.
