Composer Grace Baugher-Dunlap joined our musicians at rehearsal today to fine-tune โ€œCentennial Pulse,โ€ an original piece she was commissioned to write in honor of Butlerโ€™s 100th anniversary.โ

You can hear the piece come to life alongside performances by our Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Show Band and Chamber Ensembles at the upcoming instrumental concert!โ

WICHITA WAS REPRESENTED ON BACK-TO-BACK NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS. In 2008, Butler Community College returned to Sandy, Utah, and defeated Snow College 37โ€“30 in double overtime to capture its second consecutive NJCAA National Championship. Wichita was represented by players including Zac Clark (Wichita North), who helped Butler win both the 2007 and 2008 national championships, along with Dalando Henderson (Wichita North), Demonte Hill (Wichita East), T.J. Shine (Wichita Northwest), and Deโ€™Andre Howard (Wichita Southeast).

Yesterday, we celebrated the creativity of our talented students at The Art of Butler! ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿด Hosted at the Redler Institute of Culinary Arts, the event featured incredible performances from our vocal music students, delicious food from culinary studentsโ€”including bites from the food truckโ€”and artwork from our ID3D students.

Jessica Turner was drawn to Butlerโ€™s highly respected nursing program and the opportunity to earn an affordable, high-quality education close to home. Nursing instructor Janice Jones also left a lasting impact, teaching Turner that nursing is about more than patient care โ€” itโ€™s about professionalism, growth and sharing knowledge with others.โฃโฃ

Today, Turner serves as Chief Nursing Officer at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital while pursuing her Doctorate of Education. Butler gave her the foundation for her nursing career and helped shape the leader she is today.โฃโฃ

Now, Turner gives back by returning to Butler to speak with future nurses and invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals. ๐Ÿ’œโฃโฃ
