To All Buckeye Union,
As concerns among State and local public health officials and government leaders, regarding the spread of the COVID19 virus, have continued to increase, it has been decided that all schools in the Buckeye Union School District will remain closed through at least spring break (April 19th).
There also remains a very real possibility that school closures will remain in effect for the remainder of the school year, thus families should be preparing for an extended closure beyond spring break. We will notify the community of any decision to extend the closures, no later than April 10th.
Clearly, this decision places significant challenges upon families and children and it is not taken lightly. Our administrators, teachers, staff, and School Board are working tirelessly to support the community during this very difficult moment. Their efforts have been really incredible these past few days.
Here are examples of the efforts underway:
Teachers are preparing lessons and assignments for students while closures are in effect. If you are not contacted by your student’s classroom teacher, by Friday, please email the teacher and/or call the front office of the school.
For families with children in need of breakfast and lunch, 3 pickup spots, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, have been established. Please visit buckeyeusd.org for more details, including locations.
We are establishing a process for students to check out Chromebooks. This will be available by Friday. You will receive a communication from your principal.
For families with WiFi access challenges, we are working on a solution. Please let your principal know if home WiFi access is an issue.
Hard copy packets of work are being developed for students that will have no ability to access technology during the closures. Please inform your student’s teacher by calling the school site or emailing.
If your student would like to speak with a counselor, please email your principal.
For students with disabilities (section 504/IEP's), case managers are working with general education teachers to provide appropriate materials and will be reaching out directly to you. Please feel free to email your case managers with any specific questions.
Remember, everyone can remain healthy by practicing social spacing.
