I hope all of the students & parents I have been in our Capital building with are horrified by the behavior of these domestic terrorists. I will never look at it the same way.

As I am getting emotional watching Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg brought into the great hall of the Supreme Court; I am thinking about how lucky I am too have been in that space ONLY because I take our 8th graders to Washington D.C.. We only got to go inside once in the 15 times I have been there. We actually got to see inside the actual courtroom. The other 14 years we have only stood on the steps.

Other times we were there were the day, April of 2017 when Gorsutch was sworn in and when folks were protesting in favor of & against equal rights for all people to marry.

Very powerful this being the 2nd time in a few months brought back to my memories of these trips. The previous was watching John Lewis lay in State in the Capital Rotunda.

15 times I have stood in the exact spot people are placed while laying in state. How awesome that in this awful year of 2020 we had the first black person AND the first woman to be honored this way. I hope to be back in that space Spring 2021 with the next group of students.

Email me if you are interested in our upcoming Spring 2021 trip.

Right now we would be sitting in the Minskoff Theater watching The Lion King. Instead, I guess I will watch the new version at home. I miss you all & am so bummed to not be making memories with you in New York

I am so sad because I should be preparing to lead 45 eighth graders with Susan Stark- Osendorf, Corinne Andrews & Jeanette Besheer-Hogan to DC & NY. We had a 6:30 am flight for tomorrow morning. We were going to see Sherla Cannon in D.C. and The Lion King in New York. We were going to be lead by the amazing Michael Ruggieri.

I was looking forward to making memories with this fun group of kids. Hopefully, we are able to go in June.
