What’s the hardest thing about children’s entitled behaviors? What’s possible when children are authentically grateful? What gets in the way?

It’s such a privilege to be invited into my local school communities to share gratitude practices with preschool parents. What’s the hardest thing about entitled behaviors? What’s possible when children experience authentic gratitude? What gets in the way?

I agree with Montessori (see her quote in photo). What do you think? Are we ready to bring authentic gratitude practices into our homes and schools? The teachers at this talk were ready. Let’s get ready! Write “Ready” in the comments below if you are, too.

If all adults started off as children who had a keen awareness and appreciation for the work of others and a strong sense of the great interconnection between themselves and the sources of goodness in their lives (people, resources, etc), where would we be as a society? As a species? Would we act so entitled to consume all the earth’s resources or would we fight greed to protect them? Would we be burning down our greatest forests and polluting our precious water and air or cherishing them? Would we be tearing families apart and letting money accumulate in just a few pockets while others suffer much worse than we would treat our pets or would we find a way to aid those in need? Montessori was a peace advocate. Her philosophy was in response to the atrocities of world wars. I’d like to think that a life founded on gratitude would lead to a better world.
