We're putting the final touches on our book "A Guide for Community Stewards" that we have been working on for the past two years! With the launch of our book, we will be hosting a new 8-week learning community this fall based on the topics of the book.

There are two ways to participate:
-> You can join the learning community session that is open to the public, (https://lnkd.in/gATrCJTV)

-> You can bring co-authors Eva Jo Meyers and Arika Virapongse to your site with an in-house session (https://lnkd.in/gJASfxXE)

If you want to learn more about this opportunity, please join us for one of our free 1-hour “taster” sessions on August 20 (https://lnkd.in/gMKESzjz) or September 13 (https://lnkd.in/gH_staqA).

We know that August and September may seem far away, but we also know that budgets are being planned right now, so it's actually the best time to get plans in place! If you have questions, please let us know so we can give you additional details.

While our programs can offer structured opportunities for specific skill building, there are also tons of ways to make simple things like standing in line, waiting your turn, or moving from one space to another more intentional with a fun learning technique. In this workshop, participants will learn quick and easy methods for making your program more intentional, and walk away with a pocket full of ideas you can implement right away, and every day.

Eva from Spark Decks here: For those of you who aren't on my mailing list, there was a big announcement today!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am going to once again mention how important it is — particularly in times of stress and turmoil — to start every meeting, every class, every engagement…

… with a moment for everyone to get grounded and take a collective breath.

Every. Single. Time.

I think we are all increasingly aware of the need for a softer opening and landing, but if you need more convincing, here is a link to a short bit from Inc.com that talks about the 60-second arrival: https://lnkd.in/gKjDtMQx. Or this one from Georgetown’s ITL blog that connects mindfulness to pausing in times of transition: https://lnkd.in/gzdn6A5e. (If there are others you have read that make a strong point, feel free to send them my way!)

The thing is, sometimes it can be a little daunting to think about exactly how to hold that precious moment of pause. It holds so much power. It sets the tone for the whole session.

Because of this, I think you will probably be as excited as I am about our latest Spark Deck: https://lnkd.in/gsFS94Bg, which is designed to be used as a tool to help a group land into a session with intention.

There are SO many ways to use these cards (and if you’ve been in a workshop with me online, you’ve probably seen the virtual version of them in action, https://lnkd.in/gGgj378E):
-> Spread them out on a table or adhere them to a sticky wall
-> Invite participants to pick one that they’d like to hold for themselves for the day
-> Invite them to share the card with a person sitting next to them
-> As you close, invite them to reflect on how well they held their card throughout the session

The important part is that the cards encourage a moment of grounding for participants to reflect on what they need, what they aspire to, and how they want to show up.

Oh, and also, note that people like to take them home with them (I see people putting them into their wallets before they leave!), so you may want to get a number of decks, and leave them with the groups you are working with as a tool they can continue practicing.

Please let me know if you have questions. I am really thrilled to be able to offer this resource!

These “Intentions” cards offer a variety of thought-provoking commitments that can help individuals and groups show up with purpose in meetings, workshops, and other gatherings. Encourage participants to pick a card they'd each like to hold for themself, then check in at the end of the session t...
