September is just around the corner! 🥳🥳
Every year we do some type of challenge in the month of September, and this year the community on WhatsApp voted to do a Classic Hits Challenge! So in the month of September, I will publish a new tutorial every three days on YouTube and on Facebook. You’ll see shortened versions of those tutorials here, but if you’d like the full videos, you’ll have to find them on YouTube and Facebook.

I’m so excited for everything coming in these next few weeks!

On September 18 through 20, we will be celebrating the 10th annual International Los Angeles Ukulele Festival at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. There is a really wonderful lineup of artists who will be performing and teaching this year, as well as amazing food and vendors.

And speaking of vendors, the wonderful people at the Ohana Custom Shop will be at the LA International Ukulele Festival! I stopped by to visit them a few days ago, and while I was there, I saw these amazing ukuleles and asked to borrow them for the channel. I was there to have a pickup installed on my custom that they made for me.

I’m a big, big fan of their work, so it is a privilege to see what they are working on and to share their beautiful art pieces on my pages.

Years ago, I saw Daniel Ho perform on stage and was so inspired by his beautiful stage presence, his voice, and his talent. Never in a million years did I think that one day we would become friends, and MUCH LESS did I ever imagine l'd share the stage with him one day.

Five years later, Daniel has invited me to perform with his band in Temecula, at San Francisco Jazz Festival, and Greenland.

One of Daniel's talents is that he is so good at bringing amazing musicians together who go on to become friends. The "Daniel Ho & Friends" band performed at the beautiful Muckenthaler Mansion. If you were there, you witnessed one of my dreams literally coming true 🩵

Randy Drake is a percussionist with incredible precision, musicality, and attention to detail, and holds a PhD in ethnomusicology.

Alexander Pierce is a Berklee College of Music graduate, bassist, and vocalist who pushes the boundaries of what a bass can do on stage.

Kumu Keali'i Ceballos is an extraordinary teacher, dancer, choreographer, vocalist, and ambassador of Hawaiian culture whose presence transformed and elevated the experience for all of us. This was my first time meeting him and it was such an honor!!

What a privilege it is simply to be in the same room with you guys, and an even greater privilege to share the stage with you.

Daniel, you have been a mentor to me in more ways than you probably know. Thank you for believing in me, challenging me, and continuing to invite me into experiences I never would have imagined for myself 😭🩵🩵

(Hit Me) Baby One More Time Easy Version Guitar Tutorial

Today we will be playing this iconic Britney Spears song on our guitars. I think I was in middle school when I started listening to Britney Spears. If I remember correctly, I bought her CD at K-mart.

The chords used in this tutorial are Am, C, Dm, and E7 but a little later in the song an F and G are introduced.

🐻 Bare Necessities on Ukulele 🎶

This tutorial is not easy BUT it is definitely do-able if you are determined 💪🏼💪🏼

There is a variety of strumming patters and the tempo is quite upbeat 💨

A few years ago my friend Mrs Waffle and I hosted a Disney Songs Challenge where we taught some iconic Disney songs. Let me know if you’d like to see more songs from that challenge!

This is a tutorial for All Of Me by John Legend. It’s such a beautiful song and the rhythm is fun to practice because it’s different from other songs out there.
