Flying lessons and flight training from Private Pilot to Commercial instrument Pilot Many of our graduates go on to pursue aviation careers.

Golden State Flying Club has been a fixture at Gillespie Field and has turned hundreds of men and women into pilots since the first lesson was given in 1968! Owned and operated by the same two men who started the club, Golden State Flying Club continues to train those who dream of flight to become outstanding pilots.

Congratulation to Terry on passing her IFR checkride with Dave Leonard. I am sure this was not an easy accomplishment for her while working hard, mentoring a lot of Golden State students and being active in the San Diego 99โ€™s. Well done and we canโ€™t wait til you get your commercial.

Only a Marine!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

1956: For a bet whilst drunk, former Marine Thomas Fitzpatrick stole a small plane from New Jersey and then landed it perfectly on a narrow Manhattan street in front of the bar he had been drinking at. He had made a bet with a fellow drinker that he could leave the bar, go to New Jersey, and then get back in 15 minutes.

He did nearly the exact same thing two years later, after a bar patron refused to believe he had done the first one.

"The pilot was standing around as I got out of my wheelchair to board my flight to Portland. He followed me and the flight attendant who volunteered to carry my bag. I fling myself into my seat. He quickly asked, "were you in the military." I replied "yes."

He said, "Afghanistan 2010?" Again, although surprised this time, I said slowly "yessss."

He then told me that he recognized me, my injuries, and my face. He told me he never knew if I survived or not.

Marc Vincequere is his name. He flys w United now. Crazy small world. He was the pilot that flew me out of Afghanistan."
