OUR BRAVES OF THE WEEK:
Name: Desiree Sims

Keys: Respect, Initiative, Ownership, Commitment, Resourcefulness

Teacher Write Up: Desiree is a model human being and is a complete blessing to have in Chemistry. She is highly intelligent and motivated when it comes to her school work. She asks questions and genuinely enjoys advancing her learning. But what is more amazing is her commitment and willingness to help others and ensure they understand what is going on in class as well. For instance, we have had many new students join us throughout the year. Desiree took it upon herself, with no direction from the teacher, to help each new student acclimate to the class. She would get a binder for them, show them how to set it up, AND explain and walk them through the lesson for the day. She essentially takes new students under her wing and helps them adapt and adjust. Her support has been invaluable to me. Desiree is a true leader that models many of the Keys, such as Initiative, Resourcefulness, Respect, Commitment, and Ownership. Iโ€™m not sure she knows how much she is valued and appreciated.

Name: Robert Gakuru

Keys: Commitment

Teacher Write Up: Everyday Robert is committed to pushing himself to achieve his best. He is committed to playing his best soccer for ECV and this motivates him to get his classwork done first so he can concentrate. Even though classes are challenging, and students around him might not be as focused as he is, he is committed to do his best in all areas. And, he's a fun kid to have in class!

Our Brave of the Week is:
Zala Bibi Kohistani

Keys: Respect, Initiative, Commitment, Resourcefulness

Zala is an incredible student! She has a positive attitude every single day in class. She seeks opportunities to help other students because she cares about the success of everyone. She works incredibly hard and always maintains top grades academically and for citizenship. Zala goes above and beyond in class by working conscientiously, leading Socratic Seminar Fishbowl activities, and actively participating. She is an amazing Brave!

This weeks winner is: Hovik Hamawi
Keys: Initiative, Ownership, Commitment, Balance

Hovik took over the live at lunch concert series produced by the AME pathway last year and has built it into a solid program that hosts both student acts as well as community acts entertain staff one time per month. To set up these concerts Hovik puts countless hours into recruiting bands, putting together crews and executing game plans to make this happen. In addition, he gets great grades and studies hard to make sure that his post-secondary goals become a reality. Hovik currently has a 4.4 GPA. After his time with us at ECV Hovik hopes to continue down the AME pathway and find a profession in the arts, media or entertainment industries.

This weekโ€™s Brave of the Week is Robel Qaryaqos. Robel is a 12th grader who has been a ECV Brave his whole High School career. The Keys to Success that he was nominated for are Respect, Initiative, Commitment, and Integrity. Robel demonstrates great leadership skills on and off the soccer field.
