Greetings Awesome Real Estate Students!

8/16/21 Great class today! We spent some time going over Prop 13 and how property taxes are calculated. Good stuff to know so you can explain it to your clients.

We also discussed some of the effects of long-term (non-pandemic) rent control and why it is having a negative effect on tenants as much as landlords.

We will be doing quizzes 7 & 8 in the Real Estate Practice Book on Wednesday starting at 9:30. You are ALWAYS welcome to join in!

In our marketing segment today, we talked about an unusual interview with Neville Medhora and Jason Gourd. Unusual because Jason is the owner of Sortek which is an upscale barbershop of all things, with its own clothing line!
The value of the interview is their discussions on becoming something unique and off the beaten path. (Some other telling comments on getting reviews on various media platforms). This new twist has generated a huge following of a new and enthusiastic clientele. Who would have thought? Here is a link to the interview.

In our Web and Mobil Marketing Class we were reviewing some of the ways to re-order FaceBook business pages. We ran into a snag and after multiple Google and YouTube searches, we couldn't get the page to function the way we wanted it to. We called Malia Holleron (https://www.facebook.com/maliaholleron/) who is a business coach who specializes in social media marketing for her clients. In just a few keystrokes she had it figured out. Then she generously hung out in class for a while and gave some excellent suggestions to some of our students. It's great to have resources!

Very excited about my student, Joseph Thornell, and the June 6th program he is involved with! He will be handing out free food and supplies to over 1,000 San Deigo families as part of the Virus response team from South East Alano Club.

He is very excited about being a part of this program. As vice-chair of the board of directors, he has been able to work with some of the key people in San Deigo. Many of his sober living home residences have had a chance to see the interactions as they developed the program and the event.
