School starts this Tuesday, September 1st. Please watch for children waiting at bus stops, crossing the street and getting on and off our school buses!
**Back to School: Pedestrian and School Bus Traffic Safety**
As schools prepare to reopen their doors next week, Sheriff Joseph "Tokyo" O'Donoghue and the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office want to remind everyone of the importance of safety in our communities. With students heading back to class, we ask all drivers to slow down in the presence of buses and school zones, remain vigilant for children crossing the streets, and be patient during morning and afternoon drop-off and pick-up times. Let us all work together to ensure a safe and smooth transition back to school for our children and their families. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
When approaching a school bus, always stop when the stop-arm is out! 🛑🚍 Keep an eye out for kids getting on and off the school bus or crossing the street. It only takes a second to make a big difference 🚸 Did you know it’s illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus when the stop-arm is out with flashing red lights?
