🌞 Students are getting creative this week in two of our Specialty Camps:

🧵 "Seams Like Fun" introduces young learners to the basics of sewing as they develop new skills and create projects they can be proud of.

🧱 "Brick Builders" is packed with LEGO fun, giving students access to loads of bricks and step-by-step building challenges that encourage creativity and problem-solving.

These students are staying engaged, learning new skills, and having fun all summer long!

COMMUNITY TENNIS TOURNAMENT | JUNE 27
Whether you're a seasoned player or picking up a racket for the first time, everyone is invited to join us for a fun day of tennis competition and community spirit! The Effingham Community Tennis Tournament will create match up based on experience and skill instead of age. Please fill out the registration form to be assigned the appropriate match-up. This tournament is open to all ages and all skill levels.

Focus:
To have players from across the community come out for a great day of tennis, sportsmanship, and fun!

The State of Illinois requires certain health requirements for students new to the district and for those at the grade levels listed below. Please note that sports physicals do NOT count as a school physical.

You can call the Effingham County Health Department to make an appointment for immunizations or visit during one of their School Shot clinics.

Preschool: School physical, up-to-date immunization record, and lead screen

Kindergarten: School physical, up-to-date immunization record, lead screen, eye exam (completed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist), and dental exam

2nd Grade: Dental exam
6th Grade: School physical, up-to-date immunization record, and dental exam
9th Grade: School physical, and dental exam
12th Grade: 2nd dose of meningitis vaccine

EHS Wrestling Camp
Grades: K through 12th both boys and girls
Focus: Wrestling Techniques. No experience required.
Dates: 6/22-6/25
Time: 5-7pm
Location: EHS Small Gym

Cost: $65 per participant
Must be made on the first day of camp. Please submit cash or check (made to EHS Wrestling) upon arrival.

A fascinating glimpse into Effingham's past! This photo shows Banker Street looking north in 1927. Visible in the image is a Greyhound bus parked in front of Vogt Brothers Grocery. According to EHS alumnus Patrick R. Mansfield, the bus was driven by his grandfather, Bud Mansfield.

Congratulations to Effingham High School junior C. Braddy on being named to the 2026 IHSBCA Class 2A All-State Baseball Team!

The EHS Football Cheer team earned two 1st place trophies at UCA Cheer camp in Edwardsville!

They won 1st place in the small varsity division on their spirit rally (cheers), and 1st place in the small varsity division on their camp performance!

They also received the UCA Tradition Award! This award is presented to a cheer squad that best demonstrates outstanding school spirit, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude throughout the camp!

Senior M. Shoemaker made "All American," for her 2nd year in a row!

Coach Janelle Schuette said, "We received several superior gold ribbons at camp showing excellent technique, and strong crowd leading energy! I am super proud of my team's hard work and dedication this year. Half of my team are freshman, and to go to camp for their first time ever with the energy, hard work, focus, and dedication they have is a huge accomplishment! They should be super proud of themselves! We had a little hiccup with an injury the night before camp leaving us with one less stunt group, but these girls made a switch, worked hard, and still made it out with two 1st place trophies! Now that is a HUGE accomplishment! Way to go girls!! Way to start our season off with a bang! Let's Go Hearts!!!"

While many people think our buses get a break during the summer, there's a dedicated team working behind the scenes to make sure our fleet is ready for another safe and successful school year.

From scrubbing floors and under the seats to cleaning windows and every hard-to-reach corner, our summer bus cleaning crew has been detailing our buses from top to bottom.
