Mrs. Thoman's Top 10 Places to Look for Lost Library Books

1. Underneath beds
2. On Bookshelves
3. Between couch cushions
4. Inside toy chests or bins
5. Inside the car/under the car seats
6. In the closet
7. Inside other books
8. Inside drawers
9. Inside storage boxes or bins
10. Inside other bags or purses

All library books are due back to the library by Friday, May 10th. Additionally, if your child has any lost or damaged library books, please send cash (exact change, no change given) or check made out to Edwardsville Elementary to take care of those fees. We appreciate your help in ensuring that all books are returned so that every student has access to our library resources. As a thank you to all families with students who have returned their library books and have no outstanding fees, we will be providing a cool treat for students the following week!

We want to give another big pie in the sky thank you for your amazing support during our Scholastic Book Fair and the Pie-In-the-Face Challenge! Your generosity has helped our library "crust" all expectations!

Our staff is gearing up (and covering up!) for the Pie-in-the-Face Challenge on Friday, April 26th, during the Community Meeting. It's going to be a "flaky" good time! Join us as our students pie Mr. Rogers, Deputy Haines, and Mrs. Ammerman.

Students who donated cash were put into the spinner wheel for each dollar they brought. We put in 327 names and the winners are: kindergartner Violet Finlay, 2nd grader Dax Adel, and 3rd graders Peri McGuire & Caitlin Hutchens. Let's give them a round of applause (and maybe a few tips on how to aim)!

These awesome students showed real perseverance and stuck with the William Allen White Award Challenge! Each year the students in grades 3rd-5th are invited to read 3, or more, of the nominees and vote for their favorite. We’ll find out in May which title was most liked by students in Kansas! 🌻

🥧👀 LAST CALL FOR PIE DONATIONS! 👀🥧

Our pie wagon is gassed up and ready for one more lap through the pods. We've had a BLAST with our staff pie-in-the-face challenge, and thanks to YOUR incredible support, we've nearly reached our goal! 🎯 Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to send in donations, so if you're student has been looking forward to voting or would like a chance to launch that pie, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! 😂🙌 Thank you all for supporting our students and school. Let's make this final push one to remember! 🚀

🥧👀 Don't let spare change go to waste! Look under those couch cushions, in the car's cup holders, and deep under those washing machines because we're gearing up for a PIE-IN-THE-FACE challenge! 🥧🤪

Monday, April 1st-Friday, April 5th students can bring change and cash to vote for which staff member gets a sweet, sweet pie to the face. Students who bring cash donations will be entered into a drawing to throw one of the pies. Donations are collected as part of Scholastic's Share the Fair and used to purchase books, from our Scholastic Book Fair, for students and classroom libraries. Let's make it messy, folks! 🎉

Today author Lindsay Currie stopped by to visit with students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Students in the state of KS have a special connection to this author because her book, Scritch Scratch, was voted as last year’s winning William Allen White award title. Be sure to ask your student what their favorite part was! A special thank you to the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Education Foundation and the EDW PTO for making this visit possible.

Monday, March 25th we will be having a very special guest, award-winning author Lindsay Currie, flying all the way from Chicago to BSE/EDW. She will be presenting to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders during their library media time about her journey to become an author and inspiring our future authors by sharing her ideas about how to write engaging books. She has written 6 intermediate chapter books so far, that are mostly spooky with mystery twists. Her book Scritch Scratch was the children's vote William Allen White winner for best book for 3rd-5th graders in 2023. A big thank you to our amazing USD204 Education Foundation who supported this event by funding a portion of it with a grant.
