Just read a lot of books :) Focus on narrative and meaning making—reading stories together, talk about the pictures, making up stories, changing the ending (“wordless” picture books are great for this!) And when letters are naturally present—grocery store signs, notes on the fridge, their name on a jacket tag—point that out in conversation. And then…read more books.
