Please share this with all networks! Dental care often takes a back seat for veterans in need due to cost. This is an amazing event put on each year by the SIU School of Dental Medicine.
On Behalf of Dr. Katie Kosten:
Greetings from SIU School of Dental Medicine!
We are excited to share that on Thursday, November 10th, we will be hosting our fourth annual Veterans Care Day, where we plan on providing free dental care to veterans in need. We will be providing exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, and extractions at no cost.
Appointments are required, and there are limited spots available. We absolutely will not be able to take any walk-ins during this event, so please schedule an appointment as soon as possible if interested in participating. All dental treatment will be provided by our third and fourth year dental students under the supervision of our dental school faculty, who are all licensed dentists. Please note that treatment needs will be evaluated and prioritized, and all necessary care may not be able to be provided in this one day.
If you or someone you know is interested in making an appointment, please contact Holly Petrie at 618.474.7200. She will provide you with the necessary steps in order to secure your spot for this special event. A flier is also provided that may be distributed to any organizations, groups, or community centers you think may be interested in helping spread the word.
We hope with your help to have a successful event that we can build on for years to come. We are humbled and honored to give back in what way we can to those who have sacrificed so much for us.
Kind regards,
Katie Kosten, DMD

Hello Military-Connected,
Last week was a great success! Thank you to everyone that came out. For those that couldn't come, it isn't and is never too late to start coming!
This Wednesday, the 30th is our second weekly meeting! We are meeting at the American Legion Post #199 at 5:00 P.M. The address is 58 IL-157, Edwardsville, IL 62025 for those that haven't been.
Our meetings follow a usual format of weekly topics and then, we open up the floor for discussion and anyone is allowed to bring up a point of discussion or clarification. This week, we will be discussing fundraising/chapter events and we will touch on the Fall networking event slated for Sept. 8th. If you are receiving this email, that means YOUR ATTENDANCE IS MORE THAN WELCOME. Come solo, bring a friend or family member, etc. Whatever you do, don't be too shy to come on by. I am excited to meet the new population of military-connected students at SIUE to see what we can accomplish together.
The SIUE Student Veterans of America welcome you all to the Fall 2022 school year! If you are receiving this email you are one of our many military-connected students here at SIUE. Whether you're a reservist, national guardsman, retired veteran, or even a dependent you are a military-connected student here on campus. The Student Veterans of America (SVA) is a free organization on campus aimed at giving military-connected students a place they can belong. We are an organization committed to ensuring that military-connected students achieve their greatest potential. By leveraging our resources and competent, willing, and able cabinet members we can provide a peer group and get student veterans involved on and off-campus, and connect them to helpful resources to give them the ability to be as successful as possible. We engage in weekly meetings at the American Legion Post #199 and we participate in events on and off campus as well as holding events of our own such as our Warzone gaming tournament, Top Golf end-of-semester celebration, and our trip to the Ozarks at the end of the spring 2022 semester!
After this meeting and every meeting, there will be free bar bingo so if you're interested in that as well feel free to stay it starts at 7 pm, and speaking from experience is super fun! It is hosted by the Legion and includes cash prizes, drinks, and other prizes as well.
