At Battle Mountain High School, opportunity meets ambition.
BMHS offers 25 college-level and college-credit courses through partnerships with Colorado Mountain College and the College Board’s Advanced Placement program. Every year, students graduate not only with their high school diploma, but some also earn their Associate’s Degree from Colorado Mountain College at the same time.
That means families save thousands of dollars in college tuition, and students can shave years off their college pathway.
As a proud public high school, Battle Mountain High School makes these opportunities available to any student willing to put in the work and rise to the challenge, no matter their economic status.

Over the next two weeks, BMHS students are doing something pretty incredible.
Out of 845 students, 483, that’s about 57% of our school, are taking on more than 880 AP exams
Each of those exams can earn a minimum of 3 college credit hours if passed… which adds up to 2,640 potential college credits our students are working toward right now.
That’s thousands of hours already being invested in our futures while still in high school, and potentially tens of thousands of dollars saved for families also.
Proud to be part of a school that pushes us to this level and supports us every step of the way. BMHS is doing big things. Go Dawgs!!!

Tracy Anderson’s students have been diving into the incredible world of Colorado’s native wildlife, learning about the larger animals that call our region home and the habitats they depend on. Along the way, they’ve also explored the powerful connection between humans and nature; highlighting the mental and physical benefits of spending time outdoors.
To celebrate the culmination of their learning, students will be heading to Maloit Park to experience the natural beauty around us firsthand and search for signs of the animals they’ve studied. It’s a great opportunity to bring their learning to life and deepen their appreciation for the environment right in our backyard!

Rudy Ybarra is helping students build transferable skills across standardized tests by teaching them how to break down questions and approach problem-solving with confidence. He intentionally incorporates these strategies into his daily instruction, connecting them directly to course content. By exposing students to testing-style material in a supportive environment, students are strengthening both their skills and their confidence.

Students in David Delgado’s Spanish Language Arts classes brought culture to life by creating artistic murals highlighting different countries. With guided choice, each group selected a country to explore and represent. Through collaboration, students produced vibrant, culturally rich displays that showcase both their creativity and their learning.
