New logo, who dis? Just kidding, we didn't change much... Just how many years we've been around. The year we're celebrating our TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY! Twenty-five years of connecting students and mentors, giving out scholarships, sharing what we love about the building industry, joining with our community partners, and making a difference! We've loved every minute of it! Thank you for being part of our ACE story and stay tuned for ways you can celebrate with us this year!

We had a blast checking out the Seattle Design Festival this weekend! There is no better way to connect with local architects, builders, designers, and creative minds than the annual SDF Block Party! This year's theme was IN[FLUX] and many installations were immersive, thought-provoking, eye-catching, interactive, and even cathartic and peaceful. It was fun to run into so many ACE mentors and supporters - and learn about a few ACE students and alumni who were also involved. Shout out to our ACE friends at BRR Architecture , Mahlum Architects , Magnusson Klemencic Associates , KPFF Seattle , Mackenzie , Perkins&Will Seattle Mithun , The Miller Hull Partnership , HOK in Seattle , Integrated Design Firm , Venture General Contracting , Hoffman Construction Company , Lease Crutcher Lewis , and so many more, for making this event such a huge success and something we look forward to year after year. We love these opportunities for youth to better access and discover their inner designer! Thank you Seattle Design Festival !

We had a great time at the ABC of Western Washington golf tournament last week! Two ACE students hung out at Hole 6 and talked to all the golfers about their experience. The event was "Monopoly" themed so we brought a game to play while golfers waited for their turn. We were excited to talk about ACE and get more folks in our area involved! It was a great event!

We had a blast yesterday hanging out with all the participants at the annual buildHER camp, held at the ANDERSEN CONSTRUCTION warehouse in Kent. To everyone who helped put this event on - THANK YOU for all your work!! And to all the young women who participated - we hope to see you in ACE in the future! Or in any awesome program that gets you excited, like Sawhorse Revolution or ANEW ... There are so many resources for you and we can't wait to see what the future holds. In the meantime, enjoy the sticker offerings for the campers..... Yes, builders are actually hilarious.

We've got more reports rolling in from the ACE Summer Camp! Tanisha K., a rising senior at Tesla STEM High School in Redmond, had a great time at University of Colorado Denver earlier this month. She served as a group leader for her team, helping guide the team's meaningful discussion into a cohesive design for the vertical city project. While she loved all the insight she got into what a career in architecture might be like, she also said the social aspect of the camp was a huge benefit. "The amount of fun we had in and out of the studio was all because of the great friends I made and the memories we created together working late, doing homework, exploring the town, and so much more . Those are memories that I will always cherish. I will be forever grateful for this opportunity." Congrats Tanisha, we're glad it was an awesome week!

Coming at you live from University of Colorado Denver where the ACE Summer Camp is in full swing! We heard from Adeline S., a rising senior from Roosevelt High School who is at summer camp this year. She says yesterday, "was our first day of professional studio time and we learned about our project for the week! We also learned how to render buildings in Revit. At first it was really difficult to understand, but after the instructors explained it and we kept practicing it became a super cool and fun tool to use!" She continues, "My favorite part of ACE camp has been the community we have made. I have met so many people that I will definitely stay in contact with in the future, and I can’t wait to further these connections throughout the week." This year's camp has 30+ ACE students from all over the country, including three from Seattle. Thanks to Adeline for checking in!

It was an exciting week! On Wednesday, the inaugural cohort of ACE mentors graduated from our Women in Engineering Leadership Education Series! Made possible by the Women in Engineering Endowment, the program aims to support women as they advance through the industry. This cohort has been gathering monthly since October to explore leadership topics through workshops, career panels, presentations and more. The graduates agreed it was an incredible experience where they gained not only skills but also new colleagues and friends. The ACE Women in Engineering committee is eager to organize its next cohort and is also seeking industry partners to collaborate with to broaden the effort to serve more professionals. We had a great time a few weeks ago celebrating our mentors at Stoup Brewing - Capitol Hill for our annual mentor appreciation event! We had 248 mentors from 92 firms participate, and we couldn't do this without you! For the first time this year we also celebrated mentor anniversaries, with one mentor at 20 years (the amazing Casey from The Miller Hull Partnership), one mentor at 15 years (Matt at Wood Harbinger), five mentors at 10 years, and 37 mentors at 5+ years! Wow! Thank for you making this program what it is. Have a great summer and let's do it again next year!

Before we get too far into summer we wanted to spotlight our Virtual ACE team which had its presentation event at the beginning of the month. Congrats to all those students on completing their design response 100% virtually! Our team this year featured students from Spokane, Snohomish, Lake Stevens, Lakewood, Allyn, and other locations that made it difficult to make in-person sessions. Thank you to Casey at The Miller Hull Partnership for being the team leader again this year and to mentors from Bassetti Architects and Core States Group. We will have virtual again next year!
