Partnership takes time and dedication. Congratulations Gina and Romeo on your commitment to the journey and all that you've achieved already!
This is the happiest I've ever seen Romeo.
Watching him become more fully himself has been one of the greatest gifts of this journey.
When I look at him today, I don't just see a horse making progress in his training. I see a horse who is deeply confident. His eyes are softer, his posture is more relaxed, and he carries himself with a quiet sense of trust.
What has changed isn't just Romeo.
This year, we've had the privilege of learning from Matney Cook of Hoofbeat Attunement. Together, we've been redefining what partnership really means through groundwork rooted in softness, presence, curiosity, and choice rather than pressure and compliance.
As our relationship has changed on the ground, something beautiful has begun to unfold under saddle as well. The trust we've built together is reflected in every ride. Instead of trying to control the outcome, we're learning to listen, respond, and move together.
One of the greatest gifts of living with horses is realizing they are not here simply for us to teach. They are extraordinary teachers themselves.
Romeo has taught me to slow down. To listen before asking. To soften before correcting. To create safety before seeking performance. Every step of his confidence has invited me to grow into a more patient, present, and authentic partner.
I believe that confidence isn't something we train into another being. It emerges when they feel seen, heard, and safe enough to offer their true selves.
Maybe that's true for all of us.
I'm incredibly grateful for this journey, for Romeo, and for Matney, who has helped us discover a different way of being together. It has changed far more than our rides. It has changed our relationship. π
