"I have "grown up" a lot while at Cimarron. I have learned humility, grace, and patience from my own kids, my students, and my colleagues.

Being a part of the CSLE community is a blessing to me and my family and I have learned how to be a better teacher at home and in the classroom. Learning a new education method, especially one that seemed so different than what I grew up with seemed daunting, but the encouragement I received and camaraderie in learning it with others along the way have made it a worthwhile journey.

I am delighted regularly learning alongside my students and am thankful I get a chance to see things from their new perspectives."

Mr. Cottle's class shifted their approach to nature study this past week. He wrote in their weekly class recap: "Students slowed down, noticed more, engaged more deeply, and took more detailed notes."

“The journal is a tool that slows us down, a tool that forces us to pay deep attention... I believe that attention itself, is love; that love is sustained attention.” – John Muir Laws

"Coming from public school into Cimarron School of Living Education has honestly been such a refreshing and life-giving change for me. It’s restored so much joy in my teaching, especially my love for reading, nature, and learning right alongside the kids.

One of the best parts is the students’ genuine excitement and eagerness to learn. There’s a curiosity and wonder here that’s contagious, and it’s reminded me why I fell in love with teaching in the first place.

If someone is considering teaching at Cimarron, I would tell them it’s a place where you get to slow down, be intentional, and truly connect with your students, the content, and the world around you. It’s made such a difference in my heart as a teacher, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.🫶🏻🪲🐢" - Mindi Robertson, 2nd Grade Teacher
