The faces of the children in כיתה ב׳ glowed as they received their very first chumashim yesterday! With so much חיות ושמחה, they sang, danced, and lovingly held the Torah that is so dear to them and to all of us.

At RPRY, we strive to instill in our students a love of Torah and a strong connection to our mesorah, while helping them understand that Torah learning goes hand in hand with מעשים טובים. As the children begin this exciting new chapter, they are becoming the next link in the שלשלת הדורות, carrying our Torah and values forward from one generation to the next. What a special milestone for our students, their families, and כלל ישראל!

Our Early Childhood students had a wonderful time bringing Parshat Noach to life with a special petting zoo visit! As the children learned about Noach and the animals who entered the teivah, they had the opportunity to meet some animals up close and enjoy a hands-on learning experience. The children enjoyed brushing the goats and donkey, and got to pet bunnies and visit with the ducks. The visit was a fun and meaningful way to connect our parsha learning to the real world, sparking curiosity, excitement, and plenty of smiles. We love finding creative ways to make Torah come alive for our youngest learners!

Today, RPRY introduced a new schoolwide program, בדרך אליך: Becoming Our Best. Throughout the year the program focuses on developing different middot.

For the kick-off, students in grades one through eight gathered for a special assembly. Staff members performed an entertaining and thought-provoking skit demonstrating the importance of Hakaras Hatov (gratitude), our first middah of the year. Students reflected on the skit and its message.

Rabbi Ribalt spoke about the importance of Hakaras Hatov, explaining how it is an integral part of our identity, the very word coming from hoda’a.

The program concluded with the students in grades four through eight learning a new Mizmor L'Todah song, reinforcing the importance of Hakaras Hatov and keeping this first middah at the forefront of their minds.

“What’s Threshing?”

As 6G works through the 39 Melachot, the girls have reached two Melachot with unfamiliar names. To understand the Melachot of threshing and winnowing, 6G took to the blacktop with wheat stalks and plenty of energy! They learned how to step on the wheat to separate the kernels from the chaff, then used the wind to blow the chaff away, leaving the wheat kernels behind. Now, 6G can return to the classroom with a better understanding of these Melachot and how they apply today!

Learning the letter ה came to life for the RPRY Pre-K! Morah Mimi’s and Morah Judy’s classes had a special visit from a Hatzalah ambulance.

Hatzalah members Yoni Bauer and Zac Schachter showed the students the ambulance and its special equipment. What a fun and experiential way to learn the Aleph Bet!

Today, in recognition of the tragedies of October 7th, 2023, the RPRY Middle School gathered a special memorial ceremony. It was a time to remember what happened, to empathize with the fresh pain of our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael and to more closely come together with Am Yisrael. May the memories of what happened on that terrible day be a source of achdut for our people.
