Knee injections of corticosteroid and lidocaine offer a quick solution to inflammation and pain. Not every structural problem requires repair; the body is pretty resilient and functional with less than optimal structure. By halting the inflammatory cascade patients can often compensate and get back to normal life. Steroids are not risk free but for the appropriate patient they can be an excellent option.

As long as the medicine is in the joint it should be equally effective whether performed anteromedial or superolateral. I generally prefer the superolateral approach as it's well tolerated, quick and allows for maximal draining when fluid is present.

I only follow medical professionals on this account. Where are all my PA (and NP) colleagues at!?! Interest students, Pre-PA students, PA S1-3, new grads, and seasoned vets, let's link up!

PAs increase access to care. Your Doctor puts them in a position to do just that. This means your doctor trusts them enough to allow them to see you and care for you. You are always more than welcome to wait for the Doctor but if you trust that doctor as much as you say you do, you should probably take advantage of the earlier appt and see the PA!

De Quervain's Tenosynovitis is an inflammatory condition whereby the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis tendons are affected on the thumb side of the wrist. These tendons are uniquely wrapped in a common sheath and if it becomes thickened and inflamed it can be extremely painful and limiting.

Here we show a quick and generally well tolerated injection of corticosteroid and lidocaine into the sheath to reduce pain and inflammation. Patients generally find relief after about 48 hours.

This past weekend I was honored to be included as faculty for the and APP Seminar in Chicago. The theme of this event was "the 4 P's".

• Patient selection
• Product information
• Partnership
• Proof (data)

I had the privilege of speaking on the literature supporting the use of Peripheral Nerve Stimulation and specifically the data supporting the Nalu PNS System. We had an excellent group of APPs from across the country who were engaged and focused on improving their clinical skills. Interacting with like-minded individuals always motivates me to stay at the top of my game too!

This week was our second APP Leaders in Pain meeting and it was a night filled with education and networking. It is always exciting when new faces join in on the fun! This group included pain management and rheumatology APPs with experience levels from one year out of school to 20 years!

• Patrick led a great talk on the basics of neuromodulation and covered the benefits of remote therapeutic monitoring. 🔌⚡
• We also covered all the professional opportunities available to us as APPs, including NYNJSIPP, NANS, ASPN, Business of Pain and many more! 📚👩‍🎨
• Lastly, I gave my "Know Your Worth" talk highlighting the true financial value of an APP. This was a great exercise for all but especially for the more senior APPs with full case loads. 💸💰

Thank you to the attendees for growing this little project of ours. Our network of APP Leaders in Pain continues to flourish!

Stay tuned for our next event, to be announced soon!
