Meet Nitya Sahni ’26, who is excited to continue her educational journey at Georgia Tech University. Nitya intends to major in Computer Science.

Nitya chose Georgia Tech for its top computer science program and the many opportunities for internships and co-ops the school provides. She believes Georgia Tech will open many doors for her future career because of all the opportunities offered solely to its students. She feels prepared after four productive years in Upper School.

“W+H gave me the confidence to succeed in college by teaching me how to form connections,” Nitya said. “The small, tight-knit community made it more approachable to build strong relationships with my classmates and teachers, which played a large role in how I was able to connect with people outside of school.”

In addition to her academic excellence, Nitya was an active presence in athletics and the arts. She made the most of her Wardlaw+Hartridge experience.

“One of the most unique aspects of W+H is the opportunity (and norm) for students to try everything,” she said. “I can't think of any other school where I would be able to balance two varsity sports, theater and so many other extracurriculars while being surrounded by other well-rounded students who do the same. All these opportunities gave me exposure to different fields and skills that I am confident will open doors for me in the future.”

Nitya is grateful for the support she received from college counselors Ms. Sarah Honan and Dr. Corey Abate. Their guidance helped Nitya land at a place that will help her pursue a career in either software engineering or cybersecurity, specifically ethical hacking.

Meet Sofia Romero ’26, who is excited to continue her education at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School, where she plans to major in Filmmaking. Sofia chose Rutgers due to the strength of its film program and the vast amount of opportunities Mason Gross offers.

She’s looking forward to events such as weekly Friday lectures by professional and award winning film directors on campus talking with students: “It’s opportunities like that where I really feel like I will be able to learn from the best sources possible. And thanks to a very generous film scholarship, affordability played a major role as well,” Sofia said.

Sofia has earned accolades at the annual W+H INDIE Film and Art Festival for her artistic talents. She’s grateful for the many opportunities the school has provided in the arts. She’s also thankful for the friends and connections she’s made through Upper School allyship groups.

“The many art classes I have taken at W+H have really shaped my creative and innovative skills,” she said. “I was heavily supported by my teachers throughout my time here to explore new ways of creating work even when the task felt really intimidating. This ability to explore freely has prepared me to take risks with my work in college and to continue to do what I love surrounded by like-minded people.”

Sofia credited W+H college counselor Ms. Alayne Birnhak for being an immense help throughout the entire college process: “Even when we hit several bumps in the road, she helped me push through it while making sure I felt supported and seen. The college counseling program allowed me to figure out what kind of environment I thrive in and throughout the time of writing my personal statement essay I learned more about myself.”

In the future, Sofia hopes to be able to make at least one good feature length film that will allow her to connect with others through what she creates.
